Well, portraying an iconic superhero in a cinematic universe is one thing, and portraying a younger Donald Trump in his 70s and 80s is another. However, for Sebastian Stan, the role presented as many challenges as the rewards.
It’s a tough time for people right now since the presidential elections are nearing and the U.S. is divided between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Releasing a biographical movie about Trump during this time seems like a huge gamble and Stan is ready to win or lose.

The screenplay of the film is done by Gabriel Sherman who had covered Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign as a journalist. Soon after, it was announced that Sherman will be the writer of the film featuring Donald Trump’s era of the 70s and 80s.
As per a report byWorld of Reel, veteran directors like Paul Thomas Anderson and Clint Eastwood were asked to direct the film. They, however, refused the opportunity as they deemed it a“business risk”.In 2023, Ali Abbasi was announced as the director of the film.

Portraying the role of a young Donald Trump was certainly a risk. In 2022,Sebastian Stansigned up for the role. During the production of the film, Stan revealed that he had his fair share of doubts and hopes of quitting the film midway.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz on theHappy Sad ConfusedPodcast, theCaptain America: The Winter Soldieractor talked about how his peers did not think it as a good idea.

The actor revealed that several Hollywood icons even questioned his decision to portray a young Donald Trump and deemed it as folly!
It was not encouraging along the way. Yeah, I mean there were many people that were looking at me like ‘You don’t look anything like him [Trump]. You know, I’m never gonna buy it’.

He further continued,
Legitimate people, I respected in the business who I was asking for their opinions and they were saying ‘I don’t know. Why do this? Why try and alienate people?’
The film premiered recently and the reviews have been great so far.Although Donald Trump did not enjoy the movie and gave it very harsh remarks, the film currently stands at decent ratings.

The Apprenticereceived a rating of 7/10 on IMDB and a high of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. According toIMDB, the film has earned a global box office collection of a little over $2 million at the moment.The 2024 film is currently screening in theaters across the U.S.
