Funcom continues to iron out the wrinkles of their new survival gameDune: Awakening, as hackers have found an exploit that allows them to steal vehicles using a carrier ornithopter. It appears hundreds of reports have been made about this issue over the last several weeks, and one gamer in particular continues to fight back against unfair odds.
Dune Awakening Players Call For Patch Rollback After Losing Everything
The latest Dune Awakening patch unintentionally opened the floodgates for swarms of base-raiding thieves.
Reddit user SpooN04 recently postednew video evidenceof the hijackings to the r/duneawakening subreddit, and plans to continue reporting the incidents until the players are banned. There are many similar experiences from other gamers being reported, but SpooN04’s retaliation has become a heated battle.

“The hackers have said that I am personally on their hit list now. But I will keep sacrificing thopters for video evidence until Funcom’s CS finally lifts a finger. (Funcom reward my faith in you)”

The latest video evidence from SpooN04 shows a carrier ornithopter swooping down, attaching to the ornithopter mid-air, dragging it across the Deep Desert, and killing the player.

“There have been HUNDREDS of reports with evidence just like this.We have been reporting them since near-launch.”
After continuously baiting the hackers in the server chat, and sacrificing ornithopters for video footage, SpooN04 finally got a response from Funcom regarding the issue.

“They said they’ve seen it and the players will be banned. Then a bunch of us suddenly got responses from customer service, no confirmations but vague optimistic responses.”
“The hackers have not been on since then. It’s too soon to confirm anything, but IF they are really gone I will be making a post to celebrate the victory and give credit to Funcom for stepping in.”

Dune: Awakening has had its fair share of hiccups, including apatch mistakethat switched a PvE zone to PvP with no warning, which resulted in aswarm of base-raiding savagerywhere many players lost weeks' worth of progress. Some players have also been seen usingspeedhacks, which allow their vehicles to move at a much higher speed, resulting in unfair PvP experiences.
Whilehacking continues to be an issue, SpooN04 hasn’t given up hope, and believes Dune: Awakening is a game worth fighting for.
“Please don’t let negative posts on reddit (including mine) paint the full picture of DD. Other than these hackers, I have been thoroughly enjoying my time, even if it is barren, because the community out there is actually amazing.”
“I wouldn’t be making these posts, fighting back against the hackers, if there wasn’t something worth saving. There’s some magic in DD.”
