A new still image and remarkably short gameplay trailer from what is being reported as a new, unnamed sci-fi intellectual property fromPlayStationhas leaked online. There is no official word on whether the rumor is true, but it comes from a source that seemingly had reliably leaked information on upcoming roguelike shooterReturnal.The information that has been released is incredibly light at this point in time. The only things that have been leaked area five-second snippetshowing a futuristic soldier aiming a rifle at what appears to be a massive alien creature scaling some sort of spire and a still photo from the same snippet.RELATED:Returnal’s PC System Requirements RevealedAdditionally, the author of the post includes a few other bits of information. According to the leaker, the game is being created usingUnreal Engine 5, and the leak comes from a “very early” build, which would be consistent with its low-quality textures. The post also claims that British subsidiaryXDevis working on the project. Additionally, the leaker also promises this will be the first of many leaks concerning the alleged upcoming sci-fi game. The supposed leak had been heralded in advance by some accounts,including Twitter user MBG, who followed up on the announcement after it was posted.
Reactions to the image and video seem consistent with its brevity and low-quality renderings. Several commenters confirmed that it does indeed look like a “very early” build of a game, while at least one other speculated that, from the look of things, any sort of launch would be at least three years away.
We cannot currently verify if any of the rumors are true, so all this should be taken with a grain of salt, but PlayStation and XDev seem to be keeping silent on the matter for now.
