Riot Gamestoday announced a new publishing division within the company called Riot Forge, which will begin working with third-party developers in the future to create games set in the universe ofÂLeague of Legends.
This announcement comes just about a month after Riot announced amultitude of new projects that are in the works at the company. Some of these games, like a currently untitled fighting game, are set in theÂLeague of Legendsworld while others, like a shooter project, are entirely new IPs. To help further flesh out the world ofLeague of Legendseven more though, it seems as though Riot has decided to partner with various other devs around the world who will create these new games.
“Weâre a player- and developer-focused publisher; our mission is to bring awesome newLeague of Legendsgames to players by partnering with experienced and talented developers from around the world,” says theofficial Riot Forge websiteabout this initiative. “The League Universe and its champions offer limitless possibilities; by supporting and empowering passionate partners to tell their own stories and expand theLeagueworld, weâll deliver a variety of bespoke games that enable players of all types to experienceLeaguein new and exciting ways.”
Riot Forge says that it has multiple games that are currently in the works, but hasn’t mentioned which studios it is collaborating with at the moment. However, it won’t be long until we find out more as the publishing label is set to reveal one of these projects next week duringThe Game Awards.
If you’re a fan ofÂLeague of Legends, this is definitely a pretty big deal. It’ll be cool to see other devs' interpretation of the world ofÂLeague of Legendswhile also further fleshing out the lore within that universe.
