DualShockers learned at a preview event thatResident Evil Requiemwill feature options for both first and third-person viewpoints during gameplay, merging elements from themost popular entries in the series.

The mainline Resident Evil games used third-person camera perspectives, all the way up untilResident Evil 7. This was when the series shifted to a more cinematic first-person, reflecting the series going back to its survival horror roots.Resident Evil 8also used a first-person view, but added a third-person option in a later update.

Resident Evil Re:Verse will be removed from digital storefronts in March, and the servers will shut down permanently in June.

The preview featured agameplay section with Grace Ashcroft, the protagonist of Resident Evil Requiem, and daughter of Alyssa from Resident Evil Outbreak. The Grace demo was mostly focused on atmosphere, as a monster stalked her through a building.

Crucially, Capcom revealed that players could switch between first and third-person viewpoints. This is great news for people who struggle with first-person games, or just like to be aware of the area around their character, especially in a horror game, where enemies like to sneak up on foes.
