Capcom could be preparing some classicResident Evilgames for the remake treatment, as a prominent leaker is claiming that two are in development, but fans could be waiting a long time before they can play them.

Capcom has been steadilyremaking the older Resident Evil games, but there are still a few titles that have only received remasters. They’re still playable on modern systems, but the remasters have a lot of QoL issues that make them frustrating to play.

Some of the older Resident Evil games could be returning, as leaker AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem has revealed on Twitter/X that Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica are being remade. They believe that the games are targeting a 2027/28 release, but they were unsure of the order.

Capcom Could Be Bringing Back Billy Coen

Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil - Code: Veronica areavailable in remastered form, but these are spruced-up versions of older games. As such, they can be a pain to play, especially Code: Veronica, where it’s easy to get into an unwinnable situation if the player doesn’t have enough ammo and healing items for one of the bosses.

If the leak is correct, then it also means Resident Evil 5 might not be in thequeue for the remake treatment. Considering the game’s content and setting, that may be for the best, and Capcom might want to focus more on titles that need the remake treatment, rather than touching that can of worms.

It’s surprising that it’s going to take a few more years before those remakes are released, but Capcom could just be pacing itself, especially withResident Evil Requiem on the way. The company has been on a roll these past few years, with tons of hits across its different franchises, so there’s no need to rush out the Resident Evil remakes.
