After a long wait,Sony finally gave us the information that we’ve been waiting for on the upcoming PS5. With the system planned to arrive later this year, Sony gave us a preview of the titles that we can expect to see coming to the PS5, including several first-party exclusives and third-party titles. One of the biggest among them was the surprise reveal ofResident Evil VIII: Village, which will bring the long-running horror franchise to PS5 next year.
During Sony’s PS5 reveal event, Capcom officially revealedResident Evil 8: Village, which is coming in 2021 and will seemingly continue from where we left off in the story inResident Evil 7: Biohazard. This would mark the third consecutiveResident Evilgame release from Capcom in the past few years after the release of theResident Evil 2and3remakes in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The reveal trailer was brief, but it seemed to give us a sense of the tone and style thatResident Evil 8is aiming for, along with some radical departures from the series' past. The trailer confirmed that the nextREinstallment will be in first-person (likeResident Evil 7), while also showing some of the environments and setting, which seems to be in a European village. Ethan, the protagonist fromRE7, also was confirmed to be returning forRE8.
The trailer also highlighted that werewolves will seemingly be the focus of this installment compared to the series' traditional zombies. The trailer also teased that Chris Redfield will make his return in this chapter of the series. However, it seems like he might not be on your side this time around, which is most likely a problem for Ethan.
Resident Evil 8is officially confirmed in development for PS5 and expected to arrive sometime in 2021. Stay tuned for more information on the game as it develops. Capcom has also confirmed thatRE8will be coming to Xbox Series X and PC.
