Despite the village and castle ofResident Evil 4 Remakebeing populated by infected people and monsters, the Merchant still has a grudge against the rats and requests Leon to clear them out of different locations throughout the game.

This request is mostly straightforward and can be completed while you find the three statute heads of the Great Hall and offers a few Spinels for your trouble. While the request gives you the location of the Great Hall and Library to work with, none of the rats are found within these two locations. This request has you locating a total of three rats.
The first rat is located in thehallway before the Dining Hall. Head to the upper back left section of the Grand Hall and go through the door to the small hall before the Dining Hall. The rat will wander in the nearby area and run away from you andmay have wandered into the Dining Hallbut will make enough noise to locate easily.
Second Rat
The second rat is foundin thehallway before the Armory. From the Great Hall, head through the door on the lower section to the left side. This hallway will be a bit darker, and you’ll need to locate the rat with your flashlight. While it will run away from you once you enter,it will be trapped in the hallwayand unable to go through the door to the Armory.All rats make noise, so if you don’t see it at first, just wait and listen, and you’ll quickly be able to locate it.

The third rat is much more difficult to locate and actuallywon’t be accessible until chapter 10.When playing as Ashley, you’ll run through the hallways around the Library and will come across the rat, but you won’t be able to kill ituntil after you’ve freed Leon. After freeing Leon from the cage, chapter 10 will start, and you’ll be given the ability to free-roam the Great Hall area before proceeding to what’s next.
At this point, you can return to the areas you ran through as Leon and can now pick up and loot the items you initially had to run past. Gothrough the new door that was opened by completing the statue, and go through the door on the right to the roomwhere you initially began playing as Ashley. The next hallway will be incredibly dark andwill have the rat running around within.Leon has a flashlight making it easy to find,and should you not see it wait for it to make a noise. As both doors to this hallway are shut, the rat will be trapped within and unable to go to another room.
