Developer Sloclap surprised everyone when it announced that its follow-up title to action brawler Sifu was Rematch, a multiplayer-centric game focused on arcade-paced soccer.
The footie game is launching in just a few days' time, but don’t expect crossplay to be part of the features.

Close to 900,000 players participated in the closed beta.
While some gamers might have assumed crossplay would be available at launch, the developers have confirmed today that’s not the case and explained why.
Why Rematch Won’t Have Crossplay At Launch
In a newannouncement, Sloclap said, “We know many of you are eager to compete against friends regardless of platform. Crossplay between platforms is a top priority for us, and we did our best efforts to include crossplay functionality at launch, but we’re a small team and it’s a complex topic, with a lot of details to get right, along with platform compliance, andwe have not been able to complete it for launch. We are actively working on this and whilecrossplay won’t be activated in the coming days, it will be a matter of weeks.We’re really sorry we couldn’t deliver this day one, and we will update as soon as we have a precise ETA on the feature.”
At the very least, players can expect it before July is over based on what Sloclap has said. Of course, an online game like Rematch has a lot of moving parts, so timings and whatnot could change.

In the same announcement, Sloclap also revealed where the Rematch servers are located. Not only that, but the devs are even implementing a server region lock for players. This should allow players “to have greater control over your connection quality and gameplay experience.”
