As players eagerly wait for the arrival ofElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the player count for the base game has been quite active lately, especially on the PC version of the game. However, not everything is as charming as it used to be; there’s a new rising danger that’s causing a threat to the game’s security.

Thanks to theApex Legendsplayerbase, there’s a cautionary tale of a Remote Code Execution Exploit that’s been bugging the game. It’s causing harmful exploits that threaten players’ accounts and the severity of it seems to be heavy. In the past,Dark Soulshas shared a similar fate, and this is now coming as a warning toElden Ringplayers.
This exploit has harmed the Apex Legends community
In a post shared by user, emrexis, onReddit, it looks like theApex Legendscommunity has recently been a victim of an extremely harmful exploit. This is causing a lot of players to be extra careful with their accounts, as hackers can access their systems without them even realizing it.
Dark Souls: One Black Knight Theory Makes Them Infinitely More Terrifying Than Elden Ring’s Crucible Knights
The post shares information coming from user AntiCheatPD on Twitter:
Currently, the RCE is being abused to inject cheats into streamers machines, which means they have the capabilities to do whatever, like installing ransomware software locking up your entire PC.
Something similar happened withDark Soulsabout a year ago, and ever since, PC players have been a little skeptical about running the game in its natural online mode. To stay on the side of caution, it is advisable to playElden Ringin its offline mode until this problem is addressed and resolved by devs.

Interestingly, there are a lot of things FromSoftware players still want to see in the upcoming DLCthat act as a direct reference toDark Souls. However, this exploit is the last thing players would want to see repeat going forward.
A solution is arriving soon, but until then, Elden Ring players need to stay careful
The Easy Anti-Cheat account on Twitter has shared a tweet in response to the ongoing threat, and players should feel a sense of ease knowing there’s a fix coming in soon (hopefully!).
Elden Ring has a Secret it Doesn’t Want You to Know, and You Really Shouldn’t Know
In the meantime, bothApex Legendsand FromSoftware fans should be a little extra cautious with regards to how much time they are spending online.https://twitter.com/TeddyEAC/status/1769725032047972566?s=20
In the past,Dark Souls 3was also in a crumbling position where data miners managed to use an exploit that would break into players’ systems and mine Bitcoin. If things work out well, something like this would likely not happen again.
