Zack Snyder’s much-awaitedRebel Moonhas finally made it to Netflix and has already labeled itself one of the most disappointing projects. The project was insanely hyped as an R-ratedStar Warswhich would show the true potential of Snyder. However, it turned out to be a lackluster fest for the viewers who couldn’t endure the movie.

Zack Snyder has a controversial reputation for often being subjected to insane studio interference in his projects. This has led to several of his movies receiving a PG-13 as well as an R-rated cut for his movies. Although his Snyder Cuts have a different fanbase, many fans couldn’t understand its importance for a Netflix project.

Is Zack Snyder’sRebel Moona bad movie?
TheRebel Moonwas marketed as an R-rated version ofStar Warsalong with mature themes. It marked a new start for a franchise on Netflix and generated widespread interest among fans. However, the fans found it strange when it was announced that the movie would have two cuts despite being released on Netflix.
Following the DC debacle,Zack Snyderwas heavily involved withRebelMoon in hopes of turning it into a major franchise. When the early reactions dropped from the critics, several fans refused to believe in them. Nevertheless several of the criticisms turned true when the movie dropped to the audiences. It was evident that the movie was forcefully cut to make it PG-13.

Earlier Zack Snyder claimed that the R-rated cut of the space opera film is a different project in itself. TheMan of Steeldirector said toComicbook.comthat although Netflix never restrained him from doing anything, it was their idea to release the movie in two parts.
“It was Netflix’s idea, they’re like ‘What if we said do whatever you want over here? Do the PG-13 version and then go nuts [on the other cut]. We don’t care.’”

It was reported that both the planned parts ofRebel Moonwill have extended cuts with 45 minutes of extra footage. Besides the problem of R-rated cuts, the movie also suffers from countless other issues. Although several fans are claiming that the extended cuts and all the parts will fulfill the experience of watching the saga, the fans took it as more of an excuse.

The fans have no love forRebel Moon
Rebel Moon–Part One: A Child of Firesuffers from extreme PG-13 interference where several violent scenes are altered due to the maturity rating constraints. On the other hand, it has been also accused of pacing issues. After a certain time, the screenplay runs at an insane pace and also makes it difficult for the viewers to keep track of everything.
We have collected some tweets to reflect the fans’ reactions to the movie.
Rebel Moon is so frustrating because the first 40-50 mins are fucking brilliant but then the nosedive it takes afterwards is insane and it’s all due to the fact that 1/3rds of the film is just not fucking there man like WHY NETFLIX WHYYYYYpic.twitter.com/mGtJgwSRVH

If a director isn’t able to tell a story in a given time, well that’s his/her problem, which is a known Snyder trait.

It was like a 10 episode season with episodes 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 all deleted. What the fuck is going on? Who are these random people that want to sacrifice themselves after a 30 second conversation with a snarling woman who didn’t want to fight 15 mins before.
So many eye rolls…

#RebelMoonis unfortunately a forgettable start to what Zack Snyder hopes is the next big sci-fi franchise. Dull plot combined with bad acting (Charlie Hunnam’s Irish accent is a CHOICE) provide the film with too many stumbling blocks to navigate. Should have called it Star Warz.pic.twitter.com/iDIOtfXhNU

I watched#RebelMoon. I really wanted to like it. Some of the designs are really good but it feels like it was made by an ADHD child off their meds. It’s discombobulated with no character development. It jumps from genre to genre with no explanation. The CGI is Power Rangers bad

Even though extended cuts for movies without studio interference aren’t new in the industry, such a move for a Netflix project doesn’t make sense to many. Yet, with the response received by the latest Snyder brainchild, it doesn’t look like we can do much but expect for the extended cut to drop. If the reports are true, it’s slated to drop in early 2024 before the sequel.
Rebel Mooncan be streamed on Netflix.
