Debuting back in the second generation, Gold and Silver, Girafarig has been beloved by many fans of the franchise. Girafarig is more than just a giraffe, it has a little mouth for a tail and can the psychic typing. Many fans of thePokemonhave wanted it to have an evolution. While it remains a normal-psychic dual type, as ofScarlet and Violet, Girafarig can now evolve into Farigiraf.

Its spooky little tail is now a protective helmet, and to see this new form for yourself, you’ll just need to raise your Girafarig to the right level and teach it one specific move.

Catching Girafarig

According to the Pokedex, there is only one location to find Girafarig in the Paldea region. Thankfully this Pokemon isn’t nocturnal, so no matter what time of day, you can take a flying taxi over toPorto Marinadaand find many Girafarig. While the city won’t have wild Pokemon, the flying taxi option will bring you to the wildernessjust outside the city, and there’s quite a selection of wild Pokemon in this area. Not only is it the one spot for Girafarig, but this will also likely be the location where you’ll find the regional fighting-type Tauros, its version exclusive rare fire or water form, and this is one of the many locations Dunsparce may spawn, just to name a few.

Pokemon in this area tend to be in the low twenties, so you will need a gym badge under your belt before Girafarig will listen to you, no matter which gym badge it is. As for catching it, there’s little to recommend other than the basics. As it’s a simple catch, a PokeBall or Great Ball should be fine enough, no reason to waste an Ultra Ball or a Dusk Ball unless you have a preference for the look.

Once Girafarig has been captured, all you need to do is level it up and pay close attention once you reach the early thirties.

Evolving Girafarig Into Farigiraf

Girafarig continues a trend first introduced ingeneration 4, there’s no stone or trade needed to see the mighty Farigiraf. What’s needed instead is a specific move, a signature move introduced for Scarlet and Violet. Once you reachlevel 32with a Girafarig, you can teach it a move calledTwin Beam.

Twin Beam is a psychic attack that has a similar gimmick to another move Girafarig can learn, Double Hit. It’s an attack that always hits twice when used. This is not an attack like Bullet Seed or Fury Swipes, which randomly chooses how many times to attack between two to four times. Twin Beam is guaranteed to always attack twice. A fitting attack for a creature with two heads. Overall it’s a useful move that should probably stay in your arsenal even after the evolution.

Once Girafarig knows the move, it only has tolevel upto evolve. There is exact wording in this phrase you may want to take advantage of. Remember, at level 32, Girafarig learns Twin Beam. If you’re usingLet’s Goto level grind, Girafarig will politely show a light bulb near itself to tell you it’s ready to learn the move. Open the menu, teach the move, and then make sure it enters battle or eats a candy. Leveling up during Let’s Go does not trigger an evolution. Now, with that in mind, a logical question is; what happens if you reach level 32 during a battle or from feeding Girafarig a candy. Easy. If you level Girafarig to 32 from an actual battle or from feeding it candy, teaching it Twin Beam and that very level up will count simultaneously and Girafarig will instantly trigger its evolution. Let’s Go is a useful way to level grind, but for this evolution, you should only use it as far as level 31.

Catching Wild Farigiraf

The Pokedex will claim there are no known locations for Farigiraf in the wild. But, just like its claim for only one known location for Girafarig, this is nothing more than shielding you from a spoiler.Be warned this is late-game content, but in the late-game and end-game, there are two ways to get an already evolved Farigiraf.Tera battles are the first and the less recommended path. After you unlocked 5 and 6-star raids, there’s a slight chance for a Farigiraf. These are random and will be hard battles even if you are lucky enough to get what you want. If you want a Farigiraf but have no interest in raising Girafarig, there’s a better solution to this regarding the late game.

Area Zero’s spawns do not register in the Pokedex, which is why you can find tons of Girafarig despite the Pokedex not mentioning it.Any place there is grass in Area Zero is a place you’ll likely find Girafarig in the mid-fifties level-wise. They will likely already know Twin Beam, but you can just relearn the move if they aren’t currently using it.Catch one, make sure Twin Beam is one of its four battle moves, and give it just one extra level with some battles or candies.

If you really did just want the Farigiraf without wasting a Pokeball on Girafarig, no matter the leveling, Area Zero still has your back.On the lower levels just before the crater, wild Farigiraf can spawn near groups of Girafarig.Just run in and catch them to your heart’s content.
