Can You Catch A Shiny Nidoran?
To answer the most-asked question right away, Nidoran (F) can be shiny during the Spotlight Hour event! This means that players who have yet to catch the shiny form of the Poison Pin Pokemon have a great opportunity here. While theshiny rates are not boosted during Spotlight Hours, meaning players have~1 in 500 chanceofencountering a shinyNidoran (F), the sheer number of spawns means that the chances of running into a shiny of this specific Pokemon species are greatly increased. Players hoping to score a shiny catch shouldclick on as many Nidoran (F) as possibleduring the event!
If players manage to catch a shiny Nidoran (F), they can evolve it intoNidorina(for25 Nidoran Candy) and thenNidoqueen(for an additional100 Nidoran Candy). Both of the later forms of Nidoran (F) are pictured above with their shiny forms represented.
Spotlight Hour Bonus
Every Spotlight Hour has a bonus that players can take advantage of while they hunt through hordes of the featured Pokemon. The bonus featured during the Nidoran (F) Spotlight Hour isdouble Stardust for catching Pokemon! While Nidoran (F) only nets a measly 100 Stardust per catch on a normal day, getting a bump to 200 Stardust during the event isn’t a bad bonus. Players hoping to take advantage of this bonus shoulduse a Star Pieceand catch as many Nidoran (F) as possible!
Nidoran’s catch Stardust will be boosted even further if the Pokemon itself is weather-boosted. For Poison-type Pokemon like Nidoran,cloudy weatherwill net a 75 Stardust boost to each catch!

Mega Pokemon Boost
During Spotlight Hours andCommunity Days, it’s a great idea to have a Mega Pokemon active. When aMega Pokemon has been evolved, Pokemon that have the same typing will give extra Candy and XP when they are caught. With this in mind, players should Mega-evolve a Pokemon with the same typing as Nidoran (F).
