There were further reports about Disney having greenlit a 6th film with Depp’s iconic protagonist being replaced by a female lead to be portrayed by Margot Robbie. However, theBarbieactor confirmed that while there was a storyline being considered with her in mind, the ideas ultimately remained only on paper.

In March 2023, producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave fans renewed hope when he welcomed the possibility of working with theSleep Hollowstar again. But if the latest information from an inside source onXis to be believed, Depp’s return to the 6th film is subject to the condition that he will not return as Jack Sparrow, but as a different character who will not serve as the lead. In addition, the source claimed that the film will have a female protagonist of Haitian heritage with the storyline being based in Haiti.
While Disney and Bruckheimer are yet to officially confirm this news, the general opinion from various corners is that this is a preposterous idea. Many felt that Depp not coming back as Jack Sparrow is not just gross disrespect to the actor, but also does no favors to the franchise.
