For those who have purchased the Repaint Your Heart DLC, two conditions must be met to use Kasumi & Akechi in the main game:both the main story and the Repaint Your Heart DLC must be completed.Kasumi & Akechi areonly usable in the main story during a New Game + playthroughand only after also completing the Repaint Your Heart DLC.
After completing the DLC’s 3 to 4-hour story, players willreceive a message that the main story will have additional content after beginning a New Game + playthrough.The next screen will mention that Kasumi & Akechi will be availableafter the Phantom Thieves reassemblein the main story, and this is also only for a New Game + playthrough,even though not stated on this screen.This also means that thefirst few main story missions will need to be completed before Kasumi and Akechi jointhe team.
Even after they’ve joined the main cast, theywon’t change much of the story of character moments, only really making appearances in menus and when selecting who to use for a mission.They will not appear in any cutscene or join in conversations throughout the game.

When Should You Play Repaint Your Heart
The Repaint Your Heart DLC can be completed at any time, asit doesn’t directly connect to the main game. Repaint Your Heart does give a slight nod towards the events of the main story beginning, but it’s very quick and gives no real details of whats to come. It alsouses its own save files, Personas, weapons, and Phantom Thief level, so it won’t affect the main gameat all. With that, it is best to attempt this DLC after learning the basics of the gameplay and combat through the first few main missions. Repaint Your Heartadds paint to battlesand is a mechanic that can be a bit more complexthan the battles from the main story.
