Fishing is a mini-game hidden inPersona 4 Goldenthat many players will miss due to the lack of a clear objective in obtaining the Fishing Rod. Fish act as healing items that can be used in the TV world to heal either your HP or SP. To get the River Rod, you’ll need toshow the old man at Samegawa River a fishing hook. To get the hook, you’ll first need to go toTatsuhime Shrine and talk to the boy,who will ask for a drink.Head to the Central Shopping Districtand look for a vending machinethat sells a soda calledThe Natural. Bring this soda back to the boy and give it to him in exchange for aTatsuhime Ladybug.
After receiving the ladybug, go toShiroku in the Southern Shopping District at night and talk to the hostess,who will feed the ladybug to her pet fish in exchange for a fishhook. Take this fishhook back to the old man, who willreward you with the River Rod, which will allow you to fish the Samegawa River either during the day or evening. Bait for fishing are bugs caught at the Tatsuhime Shrine or bread crumbs obtained by trading bugs to the hostess of Shiroku.Higher-level bugs will result in better bait to catch rare fish.

How To Fish And Fish In The Ocean
To fish, head to the Samegawa River with bait and interact with the water. How many times you cancast depends on your Diligence statand will require bait in the form of bread crumbs or bugs. The more Diligence you have, the longer you can fish for. Whenever you get a bite, a bar will appear at the bottom of the screen.Keep the icon within the blue sectionof the bar and press the corresponding button to reel in the line when it’s in this section. Fish can then beconsumed as healing items in the TV worldor traded for Jewels, which can then betraded for new weaponsat Shiroku.
Aftercatching The Guardian— the biggest fish in Samegawa — and after you’vetaken three long rides on your motorcycle, return to the old man who gave you the River Rod. After showing him the Guardian, he will provide you withthe Deep-Sea Rod, allowing you to fish at Shichiri Beach. Fishing here will give you access to new fish using other combinations of bait and a new Sea Guardianto hunt for.
