Meiis one of the most useful attackers inOverwatch, especially when used carefully. Unlike other attackers,Meiis moreteam-basedand doesn’t need to be super aggressive. Mei has a bit of everything – she canstop a whole teamwith an ice wall or stop a fight by going intocyro freezeandhealing herself.
She is one of the mostversatile attackersas she’s able to fit herself into almost all situations. Mei’s ice-cold strategies, when used effectively, can leave the enemy team in shambles.

10. Who Does Mei Counter?
Knowing who Mei is best used against is key for knowing when she is a must-use in a match. Using her against these characters isvitalfor a win. Mei typically takes onhigh mobilitycharacters as she can stop them in their tracks.
9. Who Counters Mei?
Knowing when not to play Mei or who toavoid on the battlefieldis essential to being a good Mei player. Characters that have lots ofrangeare ahuge weaknessfor Mei.
8. Use Both Forms Of Endothermic Blaster
Endothermic Blasteris Mei’s main weapon, and it offers two unique and powerful attacks:Freeze Spray(primary fire) andIcicle(secondary fire). Freeze Spray sends out a cone of frost that willslow– and eventuallyfreeze– an opponent. Once the enemy is frozen, follow up with the secondary fire, Icicle.
Icicle shoots out a dart of ice for apenetrating headshot. A headshot with Icicle willkill most enemy characterswith the exception of tanks. This combo is your bread and butter when playing Mei and the reason why she can be sodeadly in 1v1 situations.

7. Use That Ice Wall
TheIce Wallcould be the most annoying move to come across in Overwatch – and for good reason. When used effectively, it can bring an enemy charge to a grinding halt. Thebest place to use itis in achokehold. If the enemy team is all coming from the same direction, use it todelay their advance. Even if it only stops them for a few moments, it lets you hold the chokehold that much longer and allows any resurrected allies to rejoin the fight. Using Ice Wall intighter corridorswhere there is no other quick path around is the most effective.
6. The Ice Wall Is More Than Just A Blocking Path
Ice Wall doesn’t just have to be used defensively. It can also be used to give Mei thehigh ground. This can allow Mei to get abetter view of enemy movementsor help herreach a high platforminstantly. It can also be used by an ally like Reinhardt or Doomfist as animpromptu barriertosmash enemiesagainst and get a kill. Ice Wall can also be used to prevent a charging Reinhardt accidentally ending up deep behind enemy lines to be easily picked off.
5. Separate The Enemy Team With Ice Wall
What is the worst thing that can happen in Overwatch? Beingforcibly separatedfrom your team and then getting taken out by the enemy. This is where Mei can truly shine. With a strategic drop of Ice Wall, Mei canisolate an enemycharacter for aneasy kill. If you’re able to separate and pick off ahealeror the enemy’stop DPSfrom the rest of their team, it offers ahuge advantagefor your team to capitalize on during your team’s next push.
4. Cyro Freeze With Purpose
Cryo Freezeis Mei’shealing ability, and it can be the difference betweenlife and deathin a1v1 situation. Not only that, but it allows her to come back into the fight atfull health, now with anadvantageover her opponent. While it can beincredibly usefulforsurvivabilitydue to the temporary invincibility and healing, it can also be used strategically.
If the point or payload is about to be captured by the enemy team and Mei is the last person on defense, usingCryo Freezecanhold the point for a few precious seconds, allowing more time for her teammates to get back into the fight.

3. Charge The Ultimate
This tip is riskier, but it can be very rewarding. Mei gainsheavy Ultimate chargewhen sheself-healswith her Cryo Freeze ability (on top of the standard Ult charge gained over time and gained by damaging opponents). If you’re close to filling your Ultimate gauge, you can try topurposefully take damage(not too much) anduse Cyro Freezeto heal yourself – this will net you some extra Ultimate charge. You won’t want to do this regularly, but in certain pressure scenarios, it canmean the difference between victory and defeat.
2. Know When To Use Your Ultimate
Blizzard, Mei’s Ultimate, is thebest crowd controlability, but only when used well. If Mei drops Blizzard on acontrol point, nobody can enter the area or else they’ll befrozen and eliminated. You’ll also want to make sure you haveallies nearbytocapitalize on frozen enemies. Blizzard can easily catch a whole team within its grasp, butMei can’t finish them all alone. Using blizzard alongwith teammateabilities such as Reaper’sDeath Blossom, Soldier 76’sTactical Visor, or Cassidy’sDeadeyecan cause a full team wipe, providing amassive advantagefor you and your allies.
1. Freeze Those Tanks
" class=“wp-image-903831”/>
Tanks have a lot of health. Mei usually can’t eliminate them with her damage alone, but she can be invaluable in taking them down. An enemy likeRoadhogcanheal a huge amountin the middle of a fight, but when he’sfrozen, Roadhogcan’t do anything. D.VA is another perfect target as herDefense Matrix abilityisuselessagainstMei’s freezing. High mobility tanks like Winston can also get caught easily by this. IfMei freezes a tank, yourteam can focus fireand destroy them, severely damaging the enemy’s hold on their position.
