But there are still a few mysteries that often make the fans question the entire plot. One of those questions is whether Red Haired Shanks stole the Gomu Gomu no Mi for Monkey D. Luffy or if there was another pirate destined to become Sun God Nika.
While it seems a mind-boggling question, several theories believe that Gol D. Roger’s son, Portgas D. Ace, was supposed to eat the Gomu Gomu no Mi. But thanks to Eiichiro Oda, Monkey D. Luffy came out of nowhere to consume the fruit. Unknowingly, it was JoyBoy’s Devil Fruit, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
Monkey D. Luffy Came Out Of Syllabus For Shanks
According to the latest One Piece fan theory,Shankswas supposed to deliver the Gomu Gomu no Mi to Portgas D. Ace. After Gol D. Roger reached Laugh Tale, he came to know that he came several years before JoyBoy’s reincarnation. He said that he still had time to make a son. Even though Shanks was not present at Laugh Tale, he came to know about his Captain’s wish.
He took it upon himself to help his son become the next Pirate King. Years later, he came to know about the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which went by Gomu Gomu no Mi. He stole it to feed it to Ace. It explains why he was on Dawn Island. Even though he did not know Ace personally, he might have found out that he was on that island. ButMonkey D. Luffycame out of the syllabus.
Red-Haired Shanks did not even know Luffy. It could be that Luffy saying the exact same words as Roger made him change his mind, or it might have been a mistake. Moreover, only the Devil Fruit would know who would be the best candidate to inherit JoyBoy’s abilities. When Roger visited the Ryugu Kingdom, he and Kozuki Oden heard the Sea Kings discussing the birth of two Sovereigns in the future.

One was the reincarnation of Poseidon, Shirahoshi, and another one was JoyBoy. They also said that they would meet in the future. Luffy met Shirahoshi, but the latter has yet to meet Sun God Nika. For this reason, Roger might have ordered his crewmembers to aid JoyBoy in his endeavors. Shanks, Crocus, Rayleigh, etc., all helped Luffy on his journey.

Red Haired Shanks’ main motive was to identify JoyBoy. It may be Roger who ordered him to find him and give him the desired Devil Fruit. While the Roger Pirates waited multiple years to reach Loderstar Island, Luffy is heading to Laugh Tale within two years after becoming a pirate. He was helped by Crocus, trained by Rayleigh to unlock his full potential, and aided by Kozuki Oden’s retainers.
