TheBen 10cartoon series that started the franchise is a childhood favorite of many who have, although grown up, but never grew out of it. Since 2005, the aeries have kept fans hooked and continue to be an amazing addition to pop culture. While talks of a live-action movie had been ongoing for years, it was recently announced that Warner Bros. has canceled the plan.

For many fans, the news came with a sigh of relief. After all, most of us remember the disaster that was the previous live-action projects. But there is another group, who might be a little bummed about the announcement. Many fans wanted Tom Holland to play the grown-up version of Ben Tennyson, the protagonist of the series. So they were put out about the fact that they wouldn’t get to see Holland with an Omnitrix. But maybe this cancelation is a blessing in disguise, as it opens up new doors for Holland to walk through.

Canceled Ben 10 Live-Action Movie Announcement Earns Mixed Reaction

While promotingThe Killer’s Gamestarring Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff, producer Steve Richards, who was also attached to the Warner Bros. project of Ben 10 live-action, revealed that the rights to the IP expired, thus leading to the cancelation of the movie. Saying he needs to update his IMDb page, where Richards is still listed as a producer of the movie, he toldThe Direct:

I have to admit, I should update my IMDb. No. So, when I was working with Joel Silver, we had the rights to that, and, yeah, that expired… But it should get made, right?

Basically, Warner Bros. does not have any rights to have the movie made anymore, which has been in development limbo for years. And this means the fans who hoped to seeTom Hollandplay a grown-up Ben have to let that idea go (at least for now). But this might not be the end of the road for the IP, and definitely not for Holland, who could jump into the shoes of yet another very popular character.

Not Ben Tennyson, But Tom Holland Could Be The Next Danny Phantom

LikeBen 10,which was a Cartoon Network production,Danny Phantomhad a similar fanbase over at Nickelodeon. The IP revolves around Danny Fenton, who had his molecules rearranged by his parent’s ghost portal and is gifted a multitude of supernatural powers because of that. And the buzz about a live-action project on the IP has been making rounds since the beginning of this year.

The part about Tom Holland’s involvement with the project comes from the series creator, Butch Hartman himself, who wants the Spider-Man actor to play Danny. During a panel at MegaCon (viaComicBook), Hartman revealed his choice for who he thinks should play the teenage boy, saying:

Tom Holland, all the way. It’s got to be Tom Holland.

But how appropriate it would be for a28-year-old Holland to play a 14-year-old Dannyis one can of worms we would like to steer clear of for now. No updates on this project have been made yet, but we sure hope to have some on our plate soon.
