A recentpost in the r/oblivionmods subreddit, by Reddit user NingenBakudan, advises gamers tobe skeptical about the patch, claiming that it has not been properly tested andcould cause more problems than it fixes.The post’s headline reads: “Warning, Don’t use Arthmoor’s new OBRE patch, potential risks to stability” and the comment sectiondoesn’t seem surprised at all.

Arthmoor is a verified mod author for NexusMods, and has released unofficial patches forSkyrim,Fallout 4,Starfield, the original Oblivion, and nowOblivion Remastered. There have been tense back-and-fourths between Arthmoor and the modding community in the past, and it’s easy to see thattensions are still high.

“Considering his influence, this could causemajor disruption in the modding community.It’s essential that as many people as possible ignore his mods,” said reddit user NingenBakudan.

After making comparisons between the new unofficialOblivion Remasteredpatch and the original Oblivion unofficial patch, NingenBakuden came to the conclusion that “This “patch” was ported using xEditwithout proper testing, and we have no idea what kind of impact it may have in a real environment.”

The post has hundreds of comments, many of which portray a long-lasting feud between Arthmoor and members of the modding community. “He really did just “port” over the old patch hastily just so he couldstake a monopoly on unofficial patches again, huh?” said Reddit user HylianMedia.

Arthmoor has made a response, stating that “claims that the UORP is a direct unmodified port of the original [Unofficial Oblivion Patch] areincorrect.”
