During a Q&A viaThe Independent, Alan Rickman revealed how he re-wrote chunks of the “terrible” script with collaboration from comedian Ruby Wax and playwright Peter Barnes. Approached by Barnes to look at the script and help him craft some good lines, Rickman noted working on the script that no one from the film crew knew about, except the filmmaker.
Nobody knew this was happening except him [Kevin Reynolds]. And I knew it had worked because as I cleared the camera I saw about 80 members of the crew just go [mimed trying not to laugh].
Eventually, with mutual effort and sheer dedication from Alan Rickman, Kevin Reynolds was able to produceRobin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which later garnered a positive response from fans.
