Nicole Scherzinger and The Pussycat Dolls were one of the most celebrated American girls pop group in the 2000s. The group started as a neo-burlesque troupe before it went mainstream and achieved worldwide success. The group was plagued by some issues amidst their success and they went into a hiatus following their 2009 world tour.

The Pussycat Dolls were disbanded in 2010 and Scherzinger recently opened up about how the group’s working conditions were a recipe for disaster. Scherzinger, who went on to enjoy a successful solo career, shared that they were put through a difficult schedule which even disrupted their sleep.

In 2008, Bachar left the group to pursue a solo career. In 2009, internal strifes began in the group after Scherzinger was credited as a featured artist in the pop version of the Oscar-winning song,Jai Ho, titledJai Ho! (You Are My Destiny).

Thornton went on to make a public outburst during one of the group’s appearances during their 2009 tour (via Rolling Stone). In 2010, it was announced that the group had entirely disbanded. During a recent interview with The Times, Scherzinger opened up about her overwhelming experience as the frontwoman.
She shared that while she enjoyed making hits, includingDon’t ChaandWhen I Grow Up, it was a very difficult situation for her and her bandmates. Scherzinger shared that the group was under a lot of stress, owing to their packed schedule. The group had tobattle their demonswhile being on the road all the time.

Scherzinger admitted that it was a recipe for disaster, hinting that the internal issues might have arisen from this stress-filled environment. She shared withThe Times U.K.:
It was such a difficult time, struggling and battling your own demons and issues and always being on the road, and they never allowed sleep in our schedule. I mean, it was just a recipe for disaster, to be honest with you.

Scherzinger further shared that the group was not as woke as it is today. It had“rules set in place”and she described the working condition as,“Work them to the bone until they’re passed out.”Scherzinger also opened up about how working in the pop group further intensified her insecurities about her body. She shared,“It was difficult for me in the beginning because I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin.”
Nicole Scherzinger Is Hopeful For The Future Of The Pussycat Dolls Despite Lawsuit
Nicole Scherzinger and her bandmates, minus Melody Thornton, were supposed to reunite for a tour in 2020. However, it was delayed during the pandemic and Scherzinger announced its cancelation in 2022. The Pussycat Dolls founder, Robin Antin, filed a lawsuit against Scherzinger, accusing her of breach of contract and several allegations.

Scherzinger shared that the lawsuit was a complete shock and heartbreak for her. However, she stood strong and responded with eight counterclaims. She further shared that she was hopeful for the future of the band. Scherzinger shared:
The lawsuit came out of nowhere. It was a complete shock and disappointment and heartbreak for me. But I’m not a victim; I’m a victor. And I stood my ground. I knew where I stood, which is why I responded with eight counter-claims. But, you know, I’m hopeful for the future. I’m very hopeful.

Scherzinger served as ajudge on several reality talent shows, includingThe Sing-Off,The X Factor,Australia’s Got Talent, andThe Masked Singer.
