With the release ofEchoin January, fans of the MCU are all but convinced that their favorite street-level vigilantes are canon in teh MCU, thanks to Daredevil’s inclusion in the show. David Tennant’s Killgrave, therefore, is also canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he is allegedly not opposed to returning to the role.

The Purple Man/ Killgrave

Being physically a part of Season 1 while appearing as a figment of Jessica’s imagination after his demise, Tenant has revealed that there might be a way to bring his version of Killgrave back to the screen. Now, with the hows entrenched in the MCU, and the street-level vigilantes having found their “Thanos” in Wilson Fisk, Tennant’s Killgrave would make an excellent secondary villain, while also being a return to form for Jessica Jones.

David Tenant would love to be Killgrave again

Speaking toCovered Geekly, Tennant opened up about his thoughts about returning as Killgrave, even though the character is dead. Killgrave has returned after his demise as a hallucination for Jessica Jones, who was still reeling from the trauma that Killgrave dolled out to her. However, with the MCU gearing into the multiverse, it is completely possible that the character would return in another manner.David Tennantis willing to give it a shot, as he revealed in the interview:

“I’d love to do Kilgrave again, yeah Kilgrave would be great. Yeah, that would be good wouldn’t it? I mean…he did very much get his neck broken, he was very dead…but never say never in the Marvel Universe.”

It is indeed possible for the character to return to the Marvel Universe. While the Netflix shows set in the Marvel Universe are considered canon, speculation has been rampant that the versions that would be canon in MCU will be slightly different. For example, we know that Wilson Fisk is poised to become the mayor of New York City despite going to jail. This could mean that the character might not have a history of being imprisoned as we know it. Similarly, Killgrave could not be dead, but simply incarcerated in this version of Jessica’s story, or has not met her at all.

One of the 15 Netflix Villains Canonized by MCU Poses a Serious Continuity Flaw for Upcoming Marvel Movie

David Tennant’s Killgrave could be an asset for Wilson Fisk

Wilson Fisk is going to be a longstanding villain on the street side of the MCU, which means he is going to require a ton of henchmen to throw at the heroes and vigilantes who would want to oppose him. Killgrave, just like Bullseye, could serve as a great ally for Fisk, just like he had allied with other antagonists in the Defenders side of the MCU.

Killgrave could come create a lot of opportunities for narrative conflict, not just with heroes, but also in the ranks of the villains. He would also be a master manipulator, who would not be happy if he were to ever figure out that Fisk has been using him as a pawn. Except, unlike Killgrave, the character would have more than brute force on his side
