WithJujutsu Kaisenslowly losing its momentum and soon to be ending, the leaks of the ending chapter have already caused commotion. The biggest flawJujutsu Kaisenslowly started to unveil was the severe lack of focus on the characters and the unanswered mysteries. Despite spending so much time with them, we know little to nothing about them and their characters aren’t fleshed out enough.

Gojo reveals Yuji is actually alive in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuji Itadori, the beloved protagonist, had been through a lot since the Shibuya Arc but that was about it. Fans are confused about where or what his Domain Expansion is or what he could do in the end. Likewise, the famous Gojo Satoru, who even non-anime fans recognize, met his demise way too early. So, if fan favorites couldn’t get the spotlight inJujutsu Kaisen, then who did? The answer is, unfortunately, Sukuna.

The Main Characters Are Great But Amount to Nothing

The majority of the characters fromJujutsu Kaisenhave appealed greatly to the masses. From their eccentric personalities to their attractive looks,Gege Akutaminailed most aspects. Yuji Itadori is an adorable main lead who suffers greatly later on and we see him become the hardened protagonist he is now.

Gojo Satoru is not just an overpowered mentor; the pressures of being the strongest are vast and he’s lost too much. Megumi Fushiguro, the boy with so much potential, struggles to find his place in the world of jujutsu sorcery. Maki has suffered so much abuse and oppression at the hands of the elite, misogynistic Zenin clan. However, in the long run, none of these amount to much.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271: Did Gojo Come Back From Death?

After the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, the plot started to fall apart. With the tragic demise of Gojo Satoru, everyone else had to pick up the pieces. Sukuna was basically undefeatable and impossible to gain an advantage over after he took over Megumi’s body.

Fans witnessed the death of several characters, some of which were incredibly unnecessary beforeYuji ultimately defeated him. In the end, it was surprisingly Sukuna who got the most development. He admitted his defeat and ended up being a comforting figure to Uraume, something we never imagined to see. But why did Gege lose focus on their main characters and uplift Sukuna?

The Flaw in Gege Akutami’s Character Writing

Fans were rightfully excited to see the fan favorite Gojo Satoru back, only for the strongest sorcerer to be killed in an underwhelming manner. It felt almost disrespectful to his character and we all know Akutami notoriously dislikes him. Still, this isn’t much of an excuse for how incomplete the author has left the arcs of several other central characters. Instead, Akutami gave Sukuna a very powerful conclusion, despite the fans rooting for his demise for several chapters while he gleefully murdered many.

Sukuna’s conclusion is excellent. He accepts his faults and allows his soul to travel the cycle, refusing to wallow like Mahito. He had paths to follow, but rejected the “curse” and connection accompanying them, worrying it would destroy him.#jjk271pic.twitter.com/UoqnxNkNPj

Sukuna’s conclusion in the manga is undeniably quite interesting. The King of Curses has always been a fascinating character that you love to hate after a while. He learns what loss and defeat are and accepts them, unlike Mahito. However, it doesn’t really explain why the main characters are incomplete and their development is next to null. The main trio are pretty much reduced to the shonen “power of friendship” trope. Sukuna Ryomen is essentially treated as the main character in the end, despite the lack of the Heian Era lore andthe rushed defeat.
