Frustrated by the standoff, Kishimoto eventually asked his editor for a suitable alternative. That’s when his editor casually suggested the name “Gaara”, which literally means”An Asura that only loves himself”in Kanji. This name resonated with Kishimoto, capturing theessence of Gaara’s demeanor.
