Jonathan Majors, famous for his role as Kang in the MCU, has been found guilty of two counts of assault and harassment charges brought against him by his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. In the aftermath of the verdict delivered by a six-member jury, Disney severed ties with Majors. While his career hangs in the balance, legal experts believe that theCreedactor is unlikely to face any jail time for his conviction.

Initial reports suggested that Majors could potentially receive a maximum sentence of up to one year behind bars. However, several attorneys claim that there is a 99 percent chance of Majors avoiding jail time. Some attorneys have even expressed surprise at how a misdemeanor case made it to trial.

Jonathan Majors May Not Face Any Jail Time
Jonathan Majorswas convicted on two of the four charges brought against him. The assault charge, which he was found guilty of, carries a maximum of one year in jail. However, legal experts believe that the sentencing judge may show leniency given that it is Majors’ first conviction. Cary London, a criminal defense attorney, told The Hollywood Reporter that theLokiactor is unlikely to serve any jail time.
London suggested that the judge may only sentence Majors with three years of probation, mandatory anger management, and community service. London shared withThe Hollywood Reporter:

“Since it’s the defendant’s first conviction, although technically he faces one year of jail, the judge will 99 percent give him three years probation, anger management, and possibly some community service. Mr. Majors is not getting jail time.”
London also pointed out that taking a misdemeanor, particularly a domestic violence case, to trial was“extremely rare”in New York. Other attorneys attributed this uncommon move to Majors’ celebrity status. It’s plausible that Majors believed a public trial would clear his name rather than accepting a plea deal. This strategy was likely crucial for Majors to save his career, as he was already being dropped from projects and advertising deals.

While many believed that the case was going to end in Majors’ acquittal, a misstep from his defense team may have contributed to sealing his fate. Experts believe that theDa 5 Bloodsactor will likely go for an appeal against the conviction.

Jonathan Majors’ Trial And The Verdict
The incident in question occurred on March 25, when Jonathan Majors’s then-girlfriend,Grace Jabbari, called the police on him. The couple was in a car when she discovered text messages on his phone, that suggested infidelity. Jabbari testified that Majors twisted her forearm and struck her head to get back his phone. She also shared that he threw her back into the car when she attempted to exit, which further added to her injuries.
Jonathan Majors faced four charges, including reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree. The more serious charges included intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. A defense misstep during the cross-examination of Jabbari turned the tide against Majors in the trial when the prosecution was allowed to introduce Molineux evidence.
This evidence, from prior uncharged crimes, consisted of text messages from Majors to Jabbari. In the messages, Majors dissuaded her from seeking medical care for an unspecified incident between them. Following this evidence, the jury returned a split verdict after three days of deliberation, deciding not to convict on the more serious charges.
