10 Best Long-Running JRPG Franchises Ranked

JRPGs have been around since the advent of gaming, and they still persist today. Here are the ten best long-running JRPG series.

However, to ensure you’re able to sneak away from the party and grab his formula without anyone noticing, you’ll need to spend some time ahead of the Soirée, creating an infiltration route through his skyrunner. Which effectively makes this area the next main dungeon withinMetaphor: ReFantazio.

Preparation For Skyrunner Charadrius Metaphor ReFantazio

It’s an area mainly made up of stealth sections and mini-bosses, each with its own challenges and quirks. But with this guide, you’ll be able to ace this dungeon, and then spend all your free time after completing requests, bounties, and nurturing bonds with your friends.

How To Prepare For The Skyrunner Charadrius

Since the Skyrunner Charadrius dungeon is mainly made up of bespoke boss fights with unique guards, there are quite a few things that players should do to make sure they are prepared for the fight ahead. Here are some things that we would suggest you do before taking on this dungeon:

Usually, I would give you a step-by-step run-through of every twist and turn the dungeon has to offer, as they can be pretty labyrinthian at times. But this one is pretty straightforward.

Between each boss encounter, you’ll need to navigate a top-down maze and use your stealth skills to remove guards without them seeing you. This is relatively easy,as you just need to stay out of their line of sight, meaning you can sprint up to them from behind and bonk them on the head.

The player also has access to Fae Sight, which can detect where the guards are and what they can see, meaning you’ll always have a good idea of which path will give you the best chance of neutralizing your target.

You need to take out every guard before you’ll be able to proceed to the boss, so be careful, take your time, and before you know it, you’ll have a clear path to your next mark.

Port vs Starboard Metaphor Refantazio

The dungeon essentially funnels the player through, so there is little chance of getting lost, and therefore, there is no need for me to tell you where to go.

However, there are some optional paths with some handy items, so here is a checklist of items you might want to nab.

How To Beat Xanth

Now that you know what to expect, when it comes to getting to your targets unnoticed, we can now focus on the fights themselves, beginning with Sergeant Xanth. This is a boss that is definitely the easiest of the bunch but can still catch you off guard if you aren’t careful.

Firstly, due to the fact that this boss has no inherent weakness, you need to find a way to essentially give them one, and then exploit it. The best way to do this is byinflicting status effects like Poison or Burn.

Poison attacks are pretty hard to come by at this point in the game, but you should have access toFiery Strike attack via the Commander Archetype, which can cause a Burn status effect. Or failing that, you should have a series of items in your inventory that have a chance to inflict these effects.

Another super effective option is the Faker Archetypes Faker Roguery skill,as this can inflict Forget status, and also has the chance to add additional turn notches. This can be a lifesaver, consideringall of these battles need to be completed in three turns or less.

A great way to ensure you start on the front foot in these fights is to use Faker’s Roguery, and if you don’t get the result you want, simply use the ‘Turn back the clock’ mechanic and repeat the process until the RNG gods smile upon you.

Xanth mainly runs physical attacks such as Round Slash and Powerful Pulverizer, so it’s best to avoid using Archetypes that are weak to these attacks, such as the Healer Archetype, as this will mean they get additional turn notches and make your life harder.

In short, the key here is to get a status effect off early and then lean into its effect to get the fight done and dusted as quickly as possible.

Port Or Starboard - What’s The Difference?

When you make it past Xanth, you’ll have the choice of taking the path Portside or Starboard side, which will lead to a choice of two mini-bosses.You’ll either be able to fight against Cebia, a very defensive-minded boss,or Glechom, a more offensive boss with annoying status effects.

The good news is thatyou will only have to fight one of these bossesduring this dungeon, which makes this decision all the more important for those looking to beat this dungeon in one day.

It will depend on your playstyle and Archetypes available as to which one will be easier to take down, but I would suggest taking on Cebia, as they don’t offer anything in the way of a threat, instead using defensive spells to stall the player out for three turns. So, if you have a strong party, you should be able to blitz this fight.

WhereasGlechom can Daze the entire party, making you very likely to miss attacks.Plus, they have strong physical attacks to contend with as well.

Aside from the battle themselves, the stealth section leading up to the fight is practically identical, with the same items available in each.

The only difference is thateach boss will give a different mask reward, which isn’t a massive deal, but it is good to know if you want to craft a particular mask later down the line.

How To Beat Cebia

If you choose to fight Cebia, then you’ll be in fora fight where offense is key, as Cebia has no intention of attacking you, and will instead castdefensive spells and barriers to stall you out, and considering you only have three turns to beat him, this can be a challenge.

There are two ways you can go about this fight that works well. Firstly, you can use Faker’s Roguery to gain extra turn notches, and simply go all-in on powerful magic attacks to slowly but surely take their HP down to zero. This won’t work without the extra turn notches, but if luck is on your side, this works a treat.

Or alternatively, you’re able to make use of either a consumable Matterbreak Hammer or a weapon with the Matterbreak Hammer abilityto break through their repel ability, which will then allow you to exploit their weakness to various physical attacks.

If you thoroughly explored the Kriegante Castle dungeon, you should have access to a Matterbreak Hammer weapon, so have a quick look through your inventory and plan accordingly.

Then, as for Cebia’s attacks, they are non-existent as they only intend to stall you out, so it’s best to go with your best Archetypes for this fight,as there is no need to worry about weaknesses or playing cautiously.

How To Beat Glechom

We move on to the drunkard Glechom, who is basically a tougher version of Xanth, as he runs similar physical attacks, but with the important caveat thatthey can use Earsplitting Shriek to inflict your party with Daze. Not to mention, in this fight, Glechom makes the first move.

So firstly,I would urge you to turn back the clock until you get a start where their Earsplitting Shriek doesn’t affect any party members, which will allow all party members to be as effective as possible in the first turn.

The informant suggests that you draw his attention to avoid this Shriek attack being a constant burden, and this can be done by inflicting Rage. However, if you run a Knight Archetypeand use Knight’s Proclamation, this works equally well and is more consistent as a strategy.

Then, as for his Punishing Blow Attack, if you choose not to run the rage/knight’s proclamation strategy, just be sure not to run Archetypes like Healers that are weak to this attack, as they will gain extra notches, and that’s the last thing you need.

The Faker’s Roguery strategy also works well here as well, but naturally, you shouldn’t rely on this during every encounteras the MP cost is excessive.

How To Beat Cabio & Salba

After you defeat either Cebia or Glechom, you’ll then proceed to your final encounter, which looks to all the world like another 1V1 battle, but Salba will turn up tomake this a double battlewith a little more nuance and challenge.

Yet, despite this, it’s not as hard as it seems. You should begin by focusing your efforts on Cabio, as they are extremely weak to electric attacks, and if you are running the Wizard Archetype, you’ll have strong attacks to make the most of this weakness.

I would suggest heading to the Gloamhall within Grand Trad on a night when you are free and purchasing the Phantasmal Doll Igniter, as this will allow you to perform two consecutive moves with a particular party member, which is perfect more making the most of certain skills and abilities that trigger weaknesses.

Then, as for Salva, much like his fellow guardsmen that you fought before, it can be very helpful to use status effects to lower their resolves, such as Burn or Poison.Alternatively, you may exploit hisweakness to Lance and projectile attacks with physical attacksfrom certain archetypes like the Gunner, for example.

The only thing you really need to be mindful of hereis his Almighty Magic, which is effective against any archetype,so there is no easy way to defend against their attacks. This essentially means that, in this case, offense is the best defense.

When you take down this pair, this will conclude the dungeon, so if you have any unfinished business, make sure you have it wrapped up before you take on this fight.

Rewards For Completing The Skyrunner Charadrius Dungeon

If you manage to clear this dungeon, then you will gain the following rewards for your efforts:

The real reward from finishing this dungeon early is the sheer amount of free time that you’ll have to play around with after it’s complete, as you’ll have about 20 days to kill.

But aside from that, you’ll get a few white masks that will become important later, and you’ll also improve your bond with Gallica, allowing you to use a second Set Skill for any Mage Archetype, andit also allows you to gain more insight when using Fae Sight in Dungeons.
