While on a mission out of town, a riot broke out among the Paripus, and Heismay’s son was caught in the stampede, tragically succumbing to his injuries.
Devastated, Heismay left the Shadowguard and isolated himself on the outskirts of Martira. However, malicious individuals took advantage of his seclusion and appearance, blaming him for kidnappings in the village and putting a bounty on his head.

After training in the hidden arts of the Shadowguard, Heismay invites the protagonist for a drink while recounting tales from his past.
Metaphor: ReFantazio: How To Raise Eloquence
If you want to be a leader, you’ll need to have a way with words.
Heismay talks about his old village and the custom of cremating the bodies of the deceased, a practice he followed with his son’s remains. His ashes and bones are kept in an urn, always within arm’s reach of Heismay.
However, the Eugief doesn’t know where to bury his son’s ashes to complete the tradition, and the protagonist extends a helping hand to assist Heismay in finding a final resting place.
Rank Three
Thief Archetype: Adept - The party can now study the Assassin Archetype
Heismay asks the protagonist to accompany him on several excursions to find a resting place for his son’s remains. Initially, they go to Grand Trad, but the capital’s cemetery doesn’t follow the same traditions as Heismay’s.
Next, they travel to a distant forest, but Heismay ponders that the noise from the animals would disturb his son’s grave, so they continue their search.
Finally, they reach an open meadow, and Heismay has flashbacks of the past, remembering how his son loved hunting insects in the tall grass or picking flowers to give to his father.
Although the place seems suitable to bury his son’s ashes, Heismay remains uncertain and asks the protagonist to visit his village with him on another occasion.
Scion’s Skill - Increases skill inheritance slots for the Thief lineage to 2
Heismay leads the protagonist to his village, a place he abandoned long ago. At the entrance, he reunites with Tadari, the village chief.
Though Heismay warns of a hostile reception, it turns out to be even more passive-aggressive than expected. The villagers don’t speak to them directly but clearly detest outsiders.
Tadari is friendly toward Heismay but says that the villagers will be defensive toward outsiders. The village chief takes Heismay’s urn to evoke sympathy from the locals.
Despite the villagers' cold stance, Tadari says they don’t mind letting Heismay’s son rest there. However, that willingness was a diversion because someone had stolen the urn.
Tadari asks Heismay to leave to avoid further discomfort among the villagers and promises to find the urn containing his son’s remains.
Thief Veneration - Significantly reduces the MAG cost of studying the Thief lineage.
Battle Aura - While in reserve, the amount of experience Heismay gains increases
During a Gauntlet Runner voyage
You’ll only be able to talk to Heismay and raise his Bond to Rank Five during a trip on the Gauntlet Runner. When you approach him, the man invites the protagonist for a conversation.
Heismay justifies his people’s actions, explaining how the village isolated itself from others. In the past, the eugiefs had friendly relations with two nearby towns.
However, those two settlements began to fight and asked the eugief village to pick a side. Heismay says they remained neutral, taking no part in the conflict.
This neutral stance led the two other villages to lose trust in the eugiefs, cutting off all ties with them and leaving them impoverished. Heismay’s village hid behind excuses, claiming they couldn’t do anything, which was the breaking point that drove Heismay to leave and become a knight in Grand Trad.
Metaphor: ReFantazio: Every Archetype, Ranked
All are viable, but they aren’t created equal.
Even so, Heismay says he understands because his fellows' insecurity about making decisions also lies within him. Heismay confesses that he even felt a bit relieved when he heard the urn was stolen because he wouldn’t have to keep remembering his son’s death.
Finally, he invites the protagonist to return to the village to search for the urn.
Scion’s Merit - Increases skill inheritance slots for the Thief Lineage to three
Battle Hypnosis: While in reserve, Heismay will gain experience at the normal rate
We return to Heismay’s village, and the man speculates that, given the speed of the theft, the urn is hidden outside the town but is still nearby.
It doesn’t take long for Heismay to find his son’s urn beneath a tree, suggesting that even the villagers didn’t really want to get rid of it.
Heismay remarks that this indirect approach to trying to expel him reflects the village’s attitude, always trying to push outsiders away. However, he realizes this isn’t the future he wants for the eugief children.
The former Shadowguard decides that he’ll try to knock some sense into the villagers, but that will have to wait for another time.

Heismay places all his hope in the protagonist, vowing to do everything he can to ensure our candidate becomes the light that will lead the kingdom to a future of racial equality where eugiefs can live in the open without fear.
