El ShaddaiDirector and Crim studio CEO Takeyasu Sawaki announced through Twitter a PC Steam version ofEl Shaddaiis currently in development. However, the game has no release date or price yet.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatronwas first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 02, 2025. It’s an Action game made mainly by ex Capcom and Clover Studio developers. Most importantly,El Shaddaiis one of the biggest memes on Japanese internet of the 2010s, with an insane amount of parody videos on Niconico;All thanks to its surrealistic first E3 2010 reveal trailer.
Thousands ofEl Shaddaiparody videos, mainly MAD (Music Anime Douga / AMVs) can be found on Niconico. WithTouhoubased and other parodies by popular fandoms reaching millions of views. One scene in particular that always come back is from the beginning of the game, an exchange between protagonist Enoch and his companion Lucifer:

In Japanese, Enoch is voiced byShinichirô Miki, while Lucifer is voiced byRyota Takeuchi. Shinichiro Miki in particular is an incredibly popular veteran seiyuu, and this also played a part in the memes.
One of the most popular parodies is a MAD by Nero, “You sure that’s enoughRenai Circulation?” parodying Sengoku Nadeko’s Character Theme Song fromBakemonogatari. The video was first uploaded on Niconico on June 22, 2025, and reached millions of views. Nero recently reuploaded the MAD on YouTube in September 2020, and it already reached 500K views:

Takeyasu Sawaki explained the Steam version ofEl Shaddai, through a launcher, will allow players to switch between Japanese and English audio and subtitles. Additional information will be coming at a later date.
