Last October 2023 was one of the busiest periods for video games on record. Not only were gamers treated to Bethesda’s Starfield,Alan Wake 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder but the long-awaitedMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was released to round off an already stellar month.
Almost four months later, one Spider-Man 2 player has found an amazing hidden PlayStation 5 controller detail that features Venom, and it seems as though this is surprising news to other Spidey fans too, who never even knew it existed.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Players Have Discovered A New Venom Free Roam Glitch
The glitch was recently patched, but players have already discovered a new workaround.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is jam-packed with Easter eggs and secrets that include things like Lockjaw from the show Inhumans, Wolverine’s costume, Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, and many more, but it seems as though this particular hidden detail has brushed past many players, which is pretty unusual this late into a game’s release.
Over on Twitter (or X, or whatever it’s called now),Evan Filarca, founder of the official The Spidey Squad, stumbled across an incredible PS5 controller feature while playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Apparently, once the Agent Venom mission is completed and Peter and Harry are hanging on the tower talking, if you turn your DualSense controller’s speaker up as loud as it can go, Venom’s voice will cry out “Peter” just as the Symbiote reaches out and tries to attach itself to him.
It’s certainly something I never heard on my playthrough and I think that’s mostly down to the fact that the sound of the Symbiote almost blends into Venom’s hissy voice. That’s, of course, until you really hear Venom, and then you’ll forever hear nothing else. Thankfully, it wasn’t just me that didn’t catch this the first time as other players couldn’t believe that they missed such a big detail. “It’s actually insane that the game has been out for 6 months and this is the first time I’m seeing this” said one comment, even though they were slightly off on how long it’s been out, while another stated, “Bro what!? That’s awesome!!!! I got a replay that mission again”.
Someone did mention in the thread that they thought the latest Spider-Man 2 update had made the Dualsense’s speaker louder, but we can’t confirm if this is true. Either way, this is one of the best things about video games, as even months, or years, down the line, you can happen upon a little hidden gem that changes the entirety of the scene.
