Human Torch Abilities
While he’s ranked as a 3-star difficulty character, Human Torch issurprisingly difficult to pick up, but once you understand the nuances of his abilities,he’s actually quite enjoyable to learn.
The Human Torch’s entire kit is focused onarea denial–much like Peni Parker. And like Parker, he’s not suited for long-range engagements. His primary attack is more akin to a shotgun blast, which deals the most damage if you engage an enemy at close to midrange.

Description
Fire Cluster
Basic attack.Launch a shotgun-like projectile that continually recharges with a max of 6 charges. Damage falloff begins at 15m, decreasing to 60% at 40m. Can crit.
Blazing Blast
Secondary attack. Launch a fireball to create a Flame Field at a targeted area. 3 charges. Deals 40 damage on impact. Flame Fields have a 3m spherical radius and last for 6 seconds, dealing 25 per second.
Flaming Meteor
Dives towards the ground, dealing 40 damage to enemies and detonating any Flame Fields hit for an additional 55 damage. Also knocks enemies back.
Plasma Body
Mobility. Enter a state of accelerated ascent, giving 50% movement boost. Recharges in a gauge similar to Iron Man and Star-Lord.
Pyro-Prison
Form a fire wall between Fire Fields to burn enemies, dealing 65 initial damage and 50 per second afterward for 5 seconds. If the walls are enclosed, any enemy caught within them is continuously damaged. Fire Fields cannot link if there is an obstruction between them or if they exceed the 40m range. 15-second cooldown.
Ultimate.Explode with cosmic fire to deal damage to enemies within range for 70 initial damage. All Flame Fields will transform into Flame Tornadoes, dealing 100 damage per second upon skill activation. Supernova also gives a 30% damage reduction.

Human Torch Offensive Strategies
The Human Torch is best at area denial, chipping away at enemies' health with his Flame Fields and Pyro-Prisons.
Before hopping into a match, attempt to play around and practice his abilities to understand where his strengths and weaknesses lie.

Flaming Meteor detonates Flame Fields, but not the fire walls created by Pyro-Prison. Even if you prematurely detonate Flame Fields, Pyro-Prison will still linger until its duration is up.
Human Torch Defensive Strategies
Despite his fiery demeanor, the Human Torch issurprisingly squishy against most forms of attack,as he has no meaningful way of defending himself from hard counters.
With Flame Field and Pyro-Prison, your job as the Human Torch is todiscourage the enemy from advancing further than you want them to, so try learning certain patterns that you can throw into the ground before hopping into a match.
Any obstruction between two flame fields will not complete a Pyro-Prison, so be mindful of where you place your flame fields. Obstructions include walls and differences in elevation (ledges or stairs), while slopes are inconsistent.
Human Torch Team-Up Abilities
Team-Up Ability
Heroes Needed
Omega Fire
Human Torch, Storm
When the Human Torch activates Supernova, Storm can summon an Omega Fire by selecting a Flame Tornado with Omega Hurricane. When Storm unleashes Omega Hurricane, the Human Torch can transform it into a Burning Hurricane with Supernova. Any Flame Tornado caught in a Burning Hurricane will grow in size and damage.
Storm Siblings
The Thing, Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic, Human Torch
The Invisible Woman taps into her powers, channeling Psionic Might to fortify the entire Fantastic Four team, granting damage resistance. Once activated, they can continually generate Bonus Health for 5 seconds, making up for lost health. Generates 100 max bonus health. 20 second cooldown.
Like his brother-in-lawMister Fantasticand best frenemy Thing, Human Torch can benefit fromInvisible Woman’sPsionic powers, which can be used as an active ability to temporarily regenerate bonus health.
This ability can be used to let you stay in the fight a little longer for your healers to come back to help you.
Human Torch andStorm’sTeam-Up ability is deadly only when they’re both using their Ultimates.
To make the most of this ability, be sure tocommunicate with your Storm and activate Supernovabefore she does. This Team-Up can wipe out the enemy team really easily but relies on timing and teamwork.
Human Torch Counters And How To Deal With Them
Like other airborne Heroes, the Human Torch is particularly weak against Heroes who have long-range attacks.
Because the Human Torch has a close-range primary attack and limited escape abilities, he is vulnerable against enemies that can engage him in the air.
Once fully charged,Hawkeye’sarrows can one-shot any character with less than 300 health, and because of how bright the Human Torch is, he’s target practice for any decent Hawkeye player.
If there’s an enemy Hawkeye on the field, your best bet is tobe as mobile as you can with Plasma Body and become unpredictable with your movements.
Ideally, you would have a teammate who could dive and distract or eliminate the Hawkeye for you.
Adam Warlock
As an off-healer,Adam Warlock has a surprisingly high DPS potentialbecause of his hit-scan primary attack that can be deadly with good aim.
Like with most enemy healers, try isolating the golden boy from the rest of his team and take him out.Adam Warlock doesn’t have a good escape tool, so eliminating him will also remove a strong source of healing and damage from the enemy team.
Punisheris still one of Marvel Rivals' strongest Duelists, as he can deal a ton of DPS from afarwith very little recoil.
The Punisher can pepper you with lead during a team fight, and you’ll be down before you even realize he’s got you in his sights.
Just like with Hawkeye, make sure to be mobile, but also manage cover by peeking out of wallsand using well-placed Flame Fields to maintain a distance between you two.
If you’ve seen clips ofIron Fistchasing after Iron Man, then you knowhe’d be a menaceto the Human Torch. This unstoppable martial artist can traverse walls and triple jump to reach you, pummeling the flames out of you.
Iron Fist’s threat comes fromhis ability to isolate his targets,so make sure to stick with your team if you see him coming or if you expect him to ambush you.
Doctor Strange
With hisCloak of Levitation,Doctor Strangecan quickly close the distance against the Human Torch, and blast him with his primary attacks.
Even if Doctor Strange deals less damage in a 1v1,his higher health pool and shield can allow him to tank most of Human Torch’s attacks.
Doctor Strange can only fly for a limited time, whereas Human Torch is naturally airborne. Take advantage of this by leading any enemy Doctor Strange on a wild goose chase before their Levitation wears off, grounding him and forcing him to be distracted from defending his teammates.
Human Torch Team Composition
The Human Torch is great at dealing high damage in close range and damage over time in mid-range, so you’ll need some brawlers and divers to even out the team.
Based on experience and some theory-crafting, Human Torch works best with his Fantastic Four family. As a pseudo-tank, Mister Fantastic can stay in the battle with the Thing while Invisible Woman heals in the backline.
Healers like Cloak and Dagger, Mantis, or Rocket Raccoon can help supplement Invisible Woman’s strong healing because they don’t need excellent aim to keep track of Human Torch while he’s airborne.
While this theoretical team already has Mister Fantastic as the second Duelist Hero, a triple Duelist team comp isn’t uncommon. A good Storm might make the Team-Up ability all the more worth it.
