WhileMarvel Rivalsis an accessible hero shooter, notevery hero in the gameis easy to pick up and play.

As is the nature of anycompetitive game, some playable heroes are harder than others to play well. But usually, learning how to do so will make you a luxury asset to your teammates.

Marvel Rivals Loki-1

Today, we will look at the ten hardest heroes to play inMarvel Rivals.

You Must Truly Be Desperate

Difficulty

Strategist

Loki is not only difficult to play skillfully, but also incredibly annoying to play against if you do get a grasp of their kit.

His Doppelgänger ability creates illusions of himself that will use various abilities across the map. While you do not need to control them directly, you do still want to place them in the right spot on the map to ensure maximum efficiency with them.

Then there’s his Regeneration Domain, which will heal nearby allies. Again, place this in the right spot, as it can be killed.

A breakdown of every hero currently in Marvel Rivals

Loki has a fun ultimate that lets you transform into any hero on the map, but you better know how to play them effectively. I hope you know how to play the other 30-plus heroes!

Hawkeye splash Marvel Rivals

If you want to master the Trickster God, you’ll need to brush up on your knowledge of other heroes and learn the ins and outs of every map to make the best use of your Doppelgängers.

Hawkeye is, in theory, a simple hero to play: shoot the enemy from a distance with your trusty bow and arrow and snipe people off the map.

Black Widow Marvel Rivals

There’s just one catch: you need to beextremelyprecise with your shots. Hawkeye is capable of one-shotting opponents with a well-placed critical hit, but your aiming reticle is extremely unforgiving.

It makes thematic sense: Hawkeye has incredible aim. However, gamers aren’t always known for said aim. That’s where the challenge comes in.

Marvel Rivals Venom hero

If you want to be good with Hawkeye, you must practice, practice, and practice. Take advantage of the practice range in-game and learn how to get those headshots before you even consider using him on the battlefield.

8Black Widow

Straight from the Red Room

Like Hawkeye, Black Widow is a sniper Duelist who can pick enemies off from a distance. Unlike Hawkeye, however, she cannot one-shot them.

The trade-off is the addition of a scope for easier shots, but her weapon’s fire rate isn’t the best, as there’s some recoil and delay between shots. You’ll need to be super precise and line things up perfectly every time.

You don’t have the same advantages that Hawkeye does, which makes it harder for her to play, even if it’s easier for her to aim up your shots.

While she does have a melee option to fend off enemy divers, it’s not that effective. You’re better off staying well out of harm’s way, otherwise other player’s will melt your health bar in the blink of an eye.

We Are Not Easy To Play Well

I need to be clear on this one, because I know this is a one-star difficulty character. Venom is a super-accessible character that is very fun, chaotic, and easy to play casually. But, he’s extremely tricky to play well.

Venom’s difficulty comes from two key factors.

First, he’s best as an initiator, meaning youmustknow when to jump onto the enemy team and lead the charge into combat. It’s easy to jump on your terms, but you can’t do this alone. You need to be in sync with your teammates; otherwise, you’ll die.

Marvel Rivals: 10 Best Characters For Beginners

In Marvel Rivals, characters like Jeff the Land Shark and The Punisher are better for newer players looking to build their skill.

Second, you need to learn the best time to use Symbiotic Resilience. It’s a balancing act, as you get more bonus health generated when your health is lower. At the same time, you don’t want to flirt too much with danger because you might die before even getting it off.

Then, of course, there’s the fact that, like Spider-Man, who we’ll discuss later, you’re slinging webs and flying across the map. On top of everything else, you need to master his movement.

Hulk smash!

We talked about Venom as an initiator, so it’s only right we talk about Hulk.

Hulk is the same style as a tank; only you’re jumping into action instead of climbing walls and slinging webs.

In fact, let’s not beat around the bush: his maneuverability is pretty poor compared to other Vanguards. Despite this, he’s a super effective bullet sponge thanks to his ultimate, Hulk Smash!, which transforms him into Monster Hulk, unlocking new abilities and giving him nearly double his health.

But if you’re not good at managing your shields and positioning to account for your moving at a glacial pace, you will revert to Bruce Banner.

This leads to a tense game of cat and mouse as you attempt to evade enemy onslaughts until your Hulk ability recharges. As expected, Banner is extremely weak, so you’ll need to master surviving as long as possible, which is easier said than done.

5Peni Parker

It’s Spider Time

Peni Parker hasa lotgoing on.

You need to set up your Spider-Nest in a place where it won’t get destroyed, set up mines for enemies to trigger, act as a tank, and be able to throw out CCs on troublesome enemies.

It doesn’t help that Peni feels like a jack of all trades and a master of none. Being expected to perform every role well when you’re outclassed is hard enough. Combine that with having to juggle multiple things at once, and it downright feels impossible.

Even if you feel like balancing these spinning plates well, it’s not uncommon to feel like you’re not contributing to a team fight. It’s an uphill battle to leave a mark on the battlefield, which is why she’s so difficult to play.

4Spider-Man

It’s not easy being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Peter Parker moves across the map at breakneck speeds, making it difficult to properly control him. As a Duelist, he’s far squishier than the game’s other web-slinger, Venom, who we already discussed on this list.

The key to playing Spider-Man well is knowing how to maneuver while web-slinging, when to dive the enemy, and when to pull off your combo. If you can excel at these key abilities, you’ll be a thorn in everyone’s side.

Don’t be surprised to find yourself routinely losing one-on-one battles as you practice, especially when going up against formidable Duelists or certain healers likeCloak & Dagger. He doesn’t do enough damage, but in skilled hands, you can get behind enemy lines and do serious damage, we assure you.

3Iron Fist

The Community’s Most Hated Hero

Iron Fist plays similarly to Spider-Man, though there are several key differences.

He can’t shoot webs out of his wrists, so you won’t be traversing the map in the blink of an eye. Like Spider-Man, his damage profile isn’t as proficient as other Duelists, but he makes up for that by being able to be a bit tankier as you assist in kills.

This is where his difficulty comes into play: you must know when to be involved in team fights and dive attempts to maximize your toolkit. On top of that, performing his combos isn’t the easiest thing in the world, either.

Marvel Rivals Review

It really makes you feel like Spider-Man.

While his ultimate buffs his damage, it leaves you open to attack briefly, meaning skill opponents can pick you off before you land a single punch. He’s a thorn in everyone’s side for public matches, but only in the hands of skilled pilots.

2Black Panther

The Heart-Shaped Herb

While Spider-Man is a five-star difficulty hero, Black Panther is arguably more difficult to play well.

His playstyle is similar to Iron Fist and Spider-Man’s. They are assassin-style Duelists who move across the map at breakneck speeds, combining enemies to take them down.

Black Panther is a little more difficult due to his preferred combo: Spear toss to hit multiple enemies, then run in and dive kick, again hitting multiple enemies, and then hit as many people as possible with Spirit Rend to reset your cooldown.

There area lotof moving parts here, plus the fact that you’re generally pretty squishy, so you need to move fast, keep up with the enemy, and be precise with your attacks. Far easier said than done.

Up Close and Personal

It makes sense that a five-star difficulty character is the hardest hero to play inMarvel Rivals.

Psylocke can deal an incredible amount of damage, but must be up close and personal to do so. There’s just one issue: she’s incredibly fragile and not entirely mobile.

She can dash, but that’s more of a damaging ability. She does have a trick up her sleeve, being able to briefly go invisible and sneak away safely. Still, you want to balance being in melee range while avoiding damage to perform well with Psylocke.

If you can pull it off, your reward isan absolutely devastating ultimatethat can swing a team fight.
