As WGA and SAG-AFTRA have altered several big scenarios in Hollywood, the MCU was not anywhere near escaping its heavy impact. WhenMinariandBeefstarSteven Yeunhad toleave the studio, it grabbed several headlines and the attention of discussion on social media platforms. Fans were not ready to let the actor go. Another exclusive report fromDeadlinerevealed that Emmy-winning starAyo Edebirihas exited Marvel’s highly anticipated project.
The studio has an immediate replacement,BlockersandMiracle WorkersstarGeraldine Viswanathanjoined the project to fill the void. Viswanathan is a rising star and has become prominent with the roles she played since her debut in 2016.
Thunderboltswill also star Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Another Update: Lewis Pullman May Fill In For Steven Yeun
Yeun’s departure was a big and sudden blow to the anticipation, but Marvel Studios will not extensively mourn his exit from the picture. A new report from Deadline also revealed thatLewis Pullmanis on the verge of sealing the deal with Marvel to replace Yeun.
Pullman has an astounding list of credits to his name, includingBad Times at the El Royale, Top Gun: Maverick, The Starling Girl,and Apple TV’s acclaimed dramaLessons in Chemistry.
Marvel Studios has not commented on the recasting yet, but the change was imminent. VeteranHarrison Fordwill play the title character, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the movie.“I don’t know. I can’t explain myself to myself, I just work here,”Ford toldThe Hollywood Reporter,explaining his Marvel debut with the role.
“I thought, ‘Everybody else seems to be having a great time.’ I watch all these terrific actors having a good time [in Marvel movies]. I like doing something different to what I’ve ever done and pleasing people with it. So I’ll try a piece of that,”he added.
Robot & Frankdirector Jake Schreier is set to direct the film with Marvel President Kevin Feige producing. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on 10 June 2025.
