Destiny 2developer Bungie is currently working on a new PVP extraction shooter titledMarathon. The game was announced in 2023 and is expected to launch in 2025 but nothing much has been known about the game so far.

However, there have been reports that the game may be facing some issues. If that wasn’t enough, a new report has now revealed that the game director ofMarathonwas fired from the company for inappropriate behaviour.
New Report States Marathon Director Was Fired for Misconduct
According to a report byBloomberg, Chris Barrett, the game director ofMarathonwas fired this spring, following an internal investigation. As per the report, there were accusations against him“several female employees of inappropriate behavior.”
The report states that the at least eight female employees raised complained against Barrett, alleging misconduct. After this an investigation took place and found that Barrett behaved inappropriately toward them. The investigation discovered that he used to call lower-level female employees“attractive.”

He would also ask them to play truth-or-dare and made references to his“wealth and power”in the studio, suggesting that he could help the employees advance their careers. The messages sent to Bloomberg showed Barrett requesting the employees to hang out and were“flirtatious.”The report reads,
He would also befriend women from the various departments in the studio and send them a“barrage of text messages that blurred the lines between professional and personal.”Barrett joined the company in 1999 and was fired this year in March after the investigation.

There were reports earlier this month that the game is facing production issues, may or may not be because of the game not having a director. It was rumored that the developers working on it are not sure if the title will be ready to ship at its internally planned release date in 2025 sometime.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier who appeared on theFriends Per Second podcastsaid that the game’s development is“not great”according to his knowledge and that is the reason why the game, initially planned to launch this year, and was internally decided to be released next year.
Moreover, fans are not happy about the game either and many say that there’s nothing new and innovative in the game. There is also not much out shared about the game from the developer and that does not help it, and not to mention this situation around Barrett, making the studio look bad.
