How To Enter The Umbral Realm
There are two ways to enter the Umbral Realm.
Using The Lamp
If you’re in Axiom, the land of the living, entering the Umbral Realm is a matter of holding out the lamp and using the Enter Umbral ability. To do so, switch your ranged slot to the Umbral lamp, press and holdCTRL + Q on PCorLT + X on Xbox. The player character will undergo a small animation, exit Axiom and enter the Umbral Realm.
In Lords of the Fallen, dying in Axiom resurrects the player in the Umbral Realm. This gives the player an additional life and a second chance at redemption. Entering the Umbral from being killed in Axiom does not result in the player losing their Vestige. Only by dying in Umbral will the playerlose their stored-up Vigor. Note that falling off a cliff in Axiom will respawn you at the location you fell off of in Umbral.

How To Leave The Umbral Realm
There are three ways to return to the land of the living from the Umbral.
Emergence Effigy (Skull Post)
These are little posts that have glowing skulls on them surrounded by white tendrils that sway in the wind. Interacting with a post will return the player’s character to Axiom with all their health intact. Skull Posts are hand-placed at strategic locations and cannot be spawned in.
Vestige Rest Points
Resting at a Vestige will restore all your tools, elixirs, health, and mana. And, if you’re in Umbral, resting will return you to Axiom automatically. Resting cannot be done if there are enemies close by, but the game is generous enough to let you rest if you give chasing enemies the slip.
Vestige Seedlings
Vestige Seedlingsare a consumable that can be used to form a custom resting spot. The caveat is that you can only place down a Vestige Seedling on an Umbral flower bed; these are small flower beds with small white flowers on the ground. These are only present at certain locations spread out in the game. Vestige Seedlings are a random drop that can be obtained by killing Umbral entities.
If you’re still having trouble figuring out how to enter and leave the Umbral, here is a short clip showing how.
