Simon Manus, Arm Of Godis the final definitive bossencountered during Chapter 11at theArche Abbey Cradle of the Gods. However, with patience and practice, beating him is entirely possible.

Defeating Simon Manus, Arm Of God Phase 1
Weapons & Items Of Choice
Simon Manus is a human character and thus isweak to the Acid status effect. For players utilizing Technique or Motivity scaling weapons,Acid Abrasives and the Acid Grindstoneare a must-use to build up this status effect. Advance users, however, will greatly benefit from utilizingtheAcidic Crystal Spear. This weapon recommendation is great, as you will be able to deal Acid damage without having to rely on consumables. We opted for theAcidic Crystal Spear Blade and the Pistol Rock Drill Handle,to dish out repeated stab attacks through its Heavy Attack.
Throwables that build up status effects are also great for making short work of Simon Manus, but we suggest saving them for the second phase. For players using the Specter, be sure to equip theFriendship Wishstone to your Cubeto keep your Specter alive for the first and second phases.

Attacks To Guard
Many of Simon Manus' attacks in the first phase can easily be countered with either aGuard or a Perfect Guard- though we highly recommend attempting to perform the latter consistently. Perfect Guarding is a surefire way to build the Staggerable effect whilst also nullifying any potential damage you might take otherwise. Once Simon is Staggerable, you canStagger him with a Charged Heavy Attackand thenperform a Fatal Attack- which is a good opportunity to build up the Acid status.
The first notable attack that can be simply Perfect Guarded isSimon’s slow, sweeping attacks. These attacks often come in twos, and take the form of Simonrearing his weapon backbeforeswinging it across the groundin a large sweeping motion. These attacks can be hard to dodge when you are up close, as its range covers a large area. However, the wind-up of the attack gives you enough time to Perfect Guard it. Simply hold the Guard button just before Simon’s weapon comes at you to counter it.

Once both swings are over, you have abrief window to follow up with your own attack- making it a perfect opportunity for a Heavy Attack.
Many other attacks during the first phase also take the form of slow-sweeping attacks, and can sometimes come in sets of three. However, there is one notable combo attack that can be tricky to counter. This takes the form ofone heavy swing of Simon’s weapon, followed byan additional swingin the same direction. Simon will then close in and swing his weapon in the opposite direction, spinning around and dealing three consecutive attacks- followed by aswift heavy slam downwards.
This attack can be hard to get through without taking any damage.Perfect Guarding the initial two swingsis relatively simple, andGuarding the spin attackis the best approach if you do not have the best reaction time. However, attempt to avoid closing in to attack following Simon’s spin attack, for he will always bring his weapon downwards afterward.
Another attack which can be Perfect Guarded pretty simply takes the form of Simonbringing his weapon towards you in a stabbing motion, followed byone swing and another heavy slam. We only encountered this attack once, and it was directed towards our Specter during our playthough. However, just like Simon’s sweeping attacks, they are pretty slow in their wind uptime.

Defeating Simon Manus, Awakened God Phase 2
Starting Off Strong
For those who are using the Specter, now is the time topop off a quick heal with your Cube. Players who also utilize Throwables should also make use of them during this phase, as Simon will employ quite a few ranged attacks.Throwing Cells, Thermites, and Carcass Body Fluid Bottlesare all great considerations to build up status effects, while theSharp Pipe and Shot Putalso prove great for building up Stagger.
Attacks To Avoid
There are quite a few notable attacks you should avoid during the second phase of the boss fight. The first takes the form ofSimon casting a golden spell cloud, which will thenfire a series of Destruction status projectiles. The best way to deal with this attack is torun either to the left or rightof the arena continuously.
The next attack you should avoid takes the form of Simonfiring a burst of four projectilesthat build up the Destruction status effect.Side-steppinginto the area between these projectiles is the best way to avoid taking unnecessary damage.
Simon will also occasionally deal two area of denial attacks. The first will occur when Simoncasts a blue spark to the ground, thus sending asingle blue blast toward your location. Sidestep this initial attack, but continue moving, as a couple more follow-up blasts will also occur. Side-stepping each attack andfollowing up with a few Throwablesis a great way to reel in some damage.
Another area of denial attack takes the form of Simon bringing his weapon handle downwards, emitting a series of blue sparks, and then bringing his weapon upwards. Not too long after, more blue sparks will appear, triggeringthe arrival of the Hand Of God. During this instance, you will want toget out of the areaas soon as possible, for a large blast attack will soon follow.
Many of Simon’s sweeping attacks from the first phase carry over to the second. However, there is one notable attack not encountered during the first phase. This takes the form of Simonrolling forward and swinging his weapon. Simon can then follow up with anadditional swing, or his signatureaerial Fury Attack. While the initial swing can be avoided entirely if you are far enough away, the following swing or Fury Attack is hard to dodge.
Guarding through the swing attackis enough to minimize any potential damage you’re able to take. However, to get through the Fury Attack, hold the Guard buttonjust a moment before Simon lands on the ground toperform a Perfect Guard- and then follow up with a Heavy Attack.
Dealing enough Heavy Attacks and Perfect Guards should build up the Staggerable effect, thus allowing you to Stagger with a Charged Heavy Attack.
Now take what you have learned from this guide and finally put an end to this boss fight.
