Character designs can always be complicated, especially for someone like Tite Kubo, who has put in his blood, sweat, and tears forBleach.Characters like Ichigo and Orihime’s faces became the most difficult for him to draw but there were others who he couldn’t particularly nail for one feature or another. With the variety of characters existing in the series, Kubo has taken extra care in making them all unique.
From their hair to their facial features, it was all a matter of deep understanding and brainstorming to create such unique characters. While there were many he could have found to be problematic, there was one feature that had him scratching his head. Although he never mentioned who the character was, fans can speculate and perhaps even pinpoint who that character was.
Tite Kubo’s Nightmare Character in Bleach
When talking in an interview (viaTumblr),Tite Kuboopened up about what features he found to be difficult to draw inBleach.Although he had previously stated that both Ichigo and Orihime posed to be a problem, with the latter’s face being impossible to nail for the mangaka, there was one feature that became a nightmare for him to draw.
When it comes to parts, large br**sts are all difficult.
Talking about physical features, he focused primarily on large bust sizes. He found it difficult to draw, the level increasing more and more as the size did. It is to be noted that most women inBleachhave a prominent body type that accentuates certain parts, heavily focusing on them. Sometimes more so than necessary. This can be taken into s*xualizing and also catering to a particular audience, classifying as fan service.

Out of these female characters, the one to stand out the most with this feature being more of a highlight than anything else is Rangiku. While she has a lot of personality to back her up alongside the fact that she is a lieutenant in the Soul Society; the fact that she has large br**sts cannot be ignored, something that might have been done on purpose. So it can rightfully be speculated that the character who gave Kubo so much trouble was none other than Rangiku.
The Nightmare Continued
When it comes to bankai and villains, Tite Kubo goes all out in giving them character designs that far surpass any basic concepts. One such character was Szayelaporro Granz. Serving in Aizen’s army, his released state is both grand and absolutely mesmerizing to look at.
During the week where Szayelaporro’s release state came up I complained the whole time whilst drawing it.
Tite Kubo confirmed that no matter how beautiful it turned out to be, he had no fun drawing it. The entire week where he was supposed to draw the transformation, he made sure to complain with every opportunity that came before him.

As such, his released state became an absolute nightmare for him, bringing him no joy with how complicated the entire design was. Needless to say, the ultimate outcome was worth every whine.
