Wes Ball is ready to rumble with his upcoming release,Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. After the reboot trilogy with Andy Serkis’ Ceasar in the lead came to an end, Ball took on the reigns with new characters and a new story but set in the same (or at least similar) world. This time, instead of Ceasar, we have Noa, a young chimpanzee hunter at the heart of the story, played by Owen Teague.

The movie will be out in theaters this weekend, but it already has a lot of positive responses from critics and industry veterans like Serkis and Matt Reeves. The latter served as the director ofDawn of the Planet of the Apes(2011) andWar of the Planet of the Apes(2017). The reboot series was a huge hit among audiences, and the upcoming movie is also likened to have a similar, if not better, response.

But that might prove to be the thing that dooms this movie, just like it happened withBatman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Sometimes, a trailer of a movie, which is released to get audiences hyped for a movie, does more harm than good. If there is not enough mystery in the trailer, and it essentially gives away the whole story of the movie, instead of getting fans excited, it dulls the fans who were once hyped about watching a movie. And that is exactly what fans’ fear might happen withKingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

With the almost eight-minute long trailer, the movie has given away quite a lot about the movie. The veil of mystery is slowly being taken off rather than maintaining the thrill of what it to come. And that does not bode well for a movie that many are excited to watch. With only a couple more days until the movie is released, this is not the right time to essentially give away the story ofKingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Might Be Making The Same Mistake as BVS

BeforeZack Snyder‘s 2016 movie,Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justicewas released, Warner Bros. and the director released the trailer for it, which many fans believe is what ruined it for the fans. The trailer clearly showed Batman and Superman teaming after their fight, revealedGal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman, and even gave away the fact that the main antagonist for the movie would be Doomsday. On a Reddit thread about which movie trailers spoiled their movie the worst? usersib2972said:

“I didn’t watch the trailer and had no idea Doomsday was in it. When Lex says Doomsday and we see him for the first time I went nuts. If they kept that a secret and just let people be surprised by it, it would’ve helped the movie so much”

Another user,Timmah73added:

“Showing Wonder Woman’s surprise entrance to block Doomsday’s laser eyes was a two-pronged WTF, spoiling the moment where she comes in to save Batman as well as showing everyone ‘Oh BTW Doomsday is in this,’ so clearly they will be teaming up to fight it.”

BVShad three trailers released before the movie premiered, and each movie kept revealing more details. It felt like there was nothing more to guess, and fans already knew where the movie was getting to before they even showed it. Hopefully, the upcoming 20th Century movie will fare better in that regard.
