Kingdom Come Deliverance has always been a franchise that manages to offer moments of gritty cinematic violence and purely silliness in equal measure.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Script The Longest In Game History Claims Director

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s script is said to be the longest in game history according to its director.

This is something that the second game manages to replicate, mainly through the eccentric people that Henry meets on his travels. And as the game truly begins, you won’t have to travel far to find two of the most eccentric and obnoxious men in the region.

If you head toward the Zhelejov Inn, you’ll come across a pair of wannabe bards, who then enlist your services to acquire a fitting instrument to add music to their sonnets.

It’s a quest during which you will either grow to love or despise these men, but either way, we are here to help you navigate it regardless.

Start the Troubadour Quest KCD2

How To Start Troubador

As mentioned, to start this quest, you must head out to the Zhelejov Inn just west of Trozkowitz.

Head towards the Inn, and sitting at a table, you’ll find two would-be songwriters and bards. They will seek your help to recover a Lute from the carpenter in Trozkowitz, and should you accept, the quest begins.

Troubadours Find the Lute KCD2

Where To Steal The Lute

Getting your hands on the Lute might seem like a tough task, but it’s actually very straightforward. The carpenter is just opposite the Rathaus, and in the room to the left, when entering, you’ll find the Lute hanging on the wall.

However, you’ll need to enter when the Carpenter isn’t there, otherwise you’ll be arrested for trespassing and stealing.

Sheep Guts In KCD2

Talking to him is no good, and you’ll have to take it right from under his nose. But the good news is that he is rarely in the building where it is hanging.

I found that if you wait around during the afternoon, the hired hands will leave the area unattended, and you’re able to simply walk in there, take it off the wall, and then hightail it back to the Zhelejov Inn.

How To Get Lute Strings

After this, the pair will play the lute only for a drunkard to take it from them, strum aggressively, and break the strings. Which, as you might have gathered, immediately leads to the pair of layabouts. Ahem, I mean, creatives, to ask for your help again.

You’ll need to acquire Strings, and according to the pair, the Gameskeeper near Vidlak Pond is your best bet. The only problem is that he won’t be around when you visit his home.

You’ll need to complete the Lackey side quest first, which can be started by heading north of Vidlak Pond, where you’ll find him up a tree, drunk as a skunk. But when you rescue him, he can craft the strings for you.

The only hold-up is that you’ll need to haveSheep Gutson hand for him to turn them into strings. Your two options here are to go and butcher a sheep yourself, which is a whole lot of hassle and, in most cases, illegal.

Alternatively, you can head to the local butcher in Trozkowitz, and you can purchase them for next to nothing.

If you use the sheep as bait during the wolf pack task during the ‘Mutt’ side quest, you can avoid paying for the sheep guts, but honestly, it’s more of a hassle than it’s worth otherwise.

Once you have the guts, head to the Gameskeeper, have him craft the strings for you, and then return to the two boys. Who will reward you with one of the most cringe-worthy performances on record.

Paying Off The Debt

The boys plan to set off to Kuttenburg, where they plan to strike it rich and pay you back tenfold. But, they aren’t allowed to leave the Inn until they work back their debt with the Innkeeper.

However, much like your lord Hans Capon, they aren’t all that keen to get their hands dirty.

So, to work back the debt, you’ll need to clear out the Latrine and also move some heavy sacks nearby. It’s all rather simple work, if a little boring. But aside from needing to wash off the smell of excrement from your clothes after this task, it’s not all that taxing for the player.

When you do this, the Innkeeper will allow them to leave, and the pair will set off to Kuttenburg. Whether they’ll be able to reward you later down the line when you, too, reach Kuttenburg is something you’ll just have to wait and see.
