Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Script The Longest In Game History Claims Director

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s script is said to be the longest in game history according to its director.

However, the rules of dice can feel a bit convoluted at first, even after reading through the tutorials that the developers were so kind to prompt you with the first time you challenge an opponent.

Let’s take a look at some tips for understanding the basics of the game so you can start walking away with some extra Groschen in your pocket right off the bat.

Understanding The Rules

The Basics

You and your opponent are each trying to reach a target victory score before the other player by rolling and scoring six dice at a time. The first one to reach the target score wins, regardless of how many turns each player has had. This means you may theoretically win a match before your opponent even has a chance to roll.

Dice are scored by making three-of-a-kind or better, making straights, or for each rolled one or five. If at any point a player fails to roll any of these things, their turn is ended, current round points are voided out, and play moves to the next person.

Players may hold and place any scoring dice off to the side and re-roll the remaining dice to continue. If, at any point, all six dice are rolled, held, and scored, the player’s turn continues with a fresh roll of all six dice and current held point totals until the player passes or fails to roll a scoring die.

Scoring Points

Point scoring occurs for each one or five rolled, for combinations of three or more rolled dice of the same number, or for straights —one through five, two through six, or one through six. Point values vary according to the chart above.

Your turn continues until you either score your points and pass to your opponent, or fail to score any points on a roll. Any points gathered on your turn to that point are immediately canceled if you continue to press your luck and fail to score additional points, so knowing when to tap out is also crucial.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II dice point totals

After rolling, you are allowed to hold onto any dice that are able to be scored immediately. In the picture above, three threes are being held for 300 points, along with a single one, worth 100 points on its own. This brings the selected total to 400.

You do not have to hold every scoring die each throw. In the example above, the player could choose to hold either the three threes or the single one by themselves, opting to re-roll anything left that’s unheld, or scoring and passing the turn to the opponent.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II dice holding

One more important note is that held dice from a previous roll on the same turn do not combine in worth with any subsequently rolled, unheld dice.

In the example above, the player has held three ones for a total of 1,000 points. On the next roll, the player rolls a fourth one. However, it cannot be combined with the three ones already held off to the side.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II dice bust

This means you must think extra hard about holding dice and continuing on, as there’s never a guarantee you’ll roll anything new that can be scored on its own.

Busting occurs at any point in your turn where Henry fails to roll a single score-able, hold-able die. When this happens, zero points are awarded to the player, and the turn immediately passes to the opponent.

Learning the correct times to score and pass instead of continuing on and busting is critical to success at dice.

For example, if you’ve already held and scored five total dice, it’s always safer to pass, since the only possible way to score on your remaining sixth die is rolling a one or a five, giving this roll a 67% chance of busting.

Finding Opponents

You won’t find any shortage of dice opponents throughout the bulk of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Your first chance to play is in the introduction of the game at Henry’s first campsite with Sir Hans and the rest of his band.

After the intro sequence, dice players are found in most towns and villages. Typically, they hang around the outside of an inn or tavern and wait at the dice tables for their next challenger.

The dice players on your map will be designated by an icon of two black and yellow dice, but these markers will not populate until you discover the players yourself. For reference, the five pictures above feature the five most easily accessible dice players in the Trosky Region.

The towns of Troskowitz, Tachov, Zhelojov, Semine, and the Nomad’s Camp all feature dice players in the marked locations. If there is no player present once you arrive, simply pass time until the player shows back up.

Dice players can be encountered along the road at various campsites as well, but these aforementioned are the most consistently found and are conveniently located near fast-travel locations.

To begin a game, approach a player, challenge them to a match, place your wagers, and begin.

Coming Prepared

The two main ways to be ready for any opponent are bringing along with you appropriate special dice and badges to give yourself advantages in the game.

All special dice behave in ways you can work to your benefit, and badges give you options throughout the game to throw down a devastating perk on your opponent.

Understanding Badges

You and your opponent must both hold badges of the same rarity in order to proceed with a badge game, and there are certain ones in each category that can always give you an edge.

If no common badges are held, most players will also typically allow you to proceed with a badge-less match-up as well, but the feeling of crushing your opponent with the perfectly chosen badge shouldn’t be missed.

For example, after locating the Gold Doppleganger Badge,Golden Badge of Headstart, andGolden Badge of Defence, Henry can either double a throw’s points three times a game, gain a point advantage at the start of the game, or entirely cancel out his opponent’s badge, respectively.

Badges are massive aids towards winning, like how gathering up thebest jokers in Balatrocan lead to easy victories.

Special Dice

Similarly, bringing special dice along to the party can help immensely as well. Once multiple dice are plundered or purchased by Henry, he is allowed to substitute up to 6 special dice into a game to replace the standard ones.

Utilizing as many special dice as possible that synergize together can be a massive boon to your success as a dice roller. Alternatively, using several in a game that do not work together well can spell doom for your match from the start.

TheHoly Trinity Dieis more likely to roll threes, and you may purchase a couple of these from the carpenter in Troskowitz. Pairing these two together can be useful if you’re going for scoring points for rolling three or more threes together.

However, combining two Holy Trinity Die next to an Even Die (more likely to only roll twos, fours, and sixes) could spell disaster for your round. It’s all about learning what dice work well together.

Quick Tips For Success

Like most things in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, becoming a dice champion probably won’t happen overnight. Even with an understanding of the rules, true competence likely won’t come until you’ve thoroughly practiced.
