Much like in the first game, you start in rags inKingdom Come Deliverance 2. From there, you shape your Henry into the knight you envision him to be through your actions and the armor you make him wear.

Armor works in layered pieces for each body part, meaning you can’t wear a cuirass without a layer of protective padding, like a gambeson. While it’s never mentioned, it’s to prevent chafing, and that just goes to show the fine little details in the game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: 10 Best Side Quests

Discover epic stories, hidden rewards, and must-play moments every fan should experience!

With the plethora of options available for each body part, finding the perfect armor is no doubt a daunting task.

Brocade Hood Armor

After much deliberation, here’s a list of the best armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Defense, weight, and even how the armor affects NPC reactions all come into play when selecting the best fit for your journey.

10Brocade Hood

For Those Who Speak Louder Than They Swing

The ranking of the best armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 wouldn’t feel right without mentioning a pick for the hood slot, so theBrocade Hoodearns its spot fair and square.

Sure, it won’t stop an axe to the face, but that’s not what it’s for. This hood brings the mostconsiderable Charisma boostof any hood, which will help tip skill checks in your favor.

Mail Collar with Badge Armor

I honestly think it’s just as crucial as heavy armor becausebrute force might win you fights; a silver tongue wins conversations.

Unfortunately, the Brocade Hood is a scarce find. Your odds spike by checking the chests in Suchdol and Sigismund’s Camp. There’s even a tiny chance in Trosky, and if you snag one, you’ll have a massive advantage in convincing NPCs.

Essential Items In KCD2

9Mail Collar with Badge

Neck Guard for the Noble Warrior

As the name suggests, theMail Collarwith Badge is a collar made of chain mail and adorned with a badge.

It’s not winning any beauty pageants, butit grants Henry the highest defense of any collarin the game.

Mail Hood with Coat of Arms armor

The collar options are also low, and for the most part, in the first half, you’ll likely don a Padded Collar. However, switching to the Mail Collar with Badge will make a big difference.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: 10 Essential Items To Stockpile

These items will serve you well throughout your entire time in Bohemia

Plus, it’s very lightweight compared to the Padded Collar, and managing your encumbrance early on can be a problem.

Once you clear Castle Trosky, head to Blacksmith Osina’s courtyard shop and snag one for around 350 Groschen.

8Mail Hood with Coat of Arms

Heraldic Protection for the Head

Don’t let theMail Hood With a Coat of Armsfool you; it’s not a hood slot item but a coif. A coif is a padded layer that enables you to wear helmets and bascinets, andit provides more protection than a hood does by a mile.

Early on, you’ll be stuck with whatever scrap you find, like the Padded Coif. It gets the job done, sure, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Once I picked up the Mail Hood with Coat of Arms from Blacksmith Osina and could finally wear it without tipping into overweight territory, I didn’t take it off. Unless I found a higher-quality version, this one stuck with me for the long haul.

7Cuirass with Falds

Balanced Armor for the Versatile Knight

When it comes to plate armor, most cuirasses don’t stray far from each other in pure defense. But stat-wise, theCuirass With Faldssits right in that sweet middle ground.

It’snot too heavy, doesn’t drag you down, and gives just enough protection to soak up some serious hits.

Buying one in Kuttenberg might set you back over 4,000 Groschen, which stings, but if luck’s on your side, there’s a shot at grabbing one for free from Trosky Castle.

6Brunswick Armor Set

A Treasure Hunter’s Reward

Treasure hunts are easily one of my favorite ways to kill time in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. There’s something satisfying about solving riddles and digging up buried loot.

The Lion’s Crest DLCquest kicks that up a notch. It’s available as soon as you’re able to freelyroam the Trosky region, and it sends you on a multi-part hunt to unearth chests holding parts of Brunswick’s legendary armor.

You won’t get a complete set, but what you do get is ludicrously powerful for the early game. It’sthe kind of gear that makes enemies regret ever spotting you. And let’s be honest, Brunswick’s armor also ranks high in style. Of all things, there’s a gilded lion statuette on the bascinet.

Though it’s a shame it’s locked behind a DLC, if you’re crafty with console commands, there’s still a way to suit up.

5Noble Plate Legs

Elegance Meets Endurance

The “Noble” gear line isn’t just about sounding fancy. These pieces sit at the top of the armor tier list, and the Noble Plate Legs are no exception.

With abeefy defense stat of 134, they don’t just look the part. They’re built smart, using strong plating without being absurdly heavy.

They’re easily the best leg protection you can find, but that kind of quality comes at a price. If you buy them from the Kuttenberg armorsmith, expect to cough up over 3,000 Groschen.

4Nuremberg Plate Gauntlets

Precision-Forged Sleeves

Like the Noble Plate Legs, the Nuremberg Plate Gauntlets are top-tier when it comes to arm protection. Considering how chaotic fights get in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, your arms are fair game for a sword swing or arrow jab.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II: 7 Best Side Quests To Do First

There’s a lot to do in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, but these 7 side quests will get you off on the right foot.

If you’re aiming to keep all your limbs in one piece, you’ll want these. They’ll set you back just under 4,000 Groschen when buying from the same armorsmith in Kuttenberg.

Or you could take a different route. It turns out that Taras Mura, the NPC in theMouth of Hell side quest, wears both the gauntlets and the plate legs.

If you’ve unfortunately already taken him out but forgot to loot him, now’s a good time to retrace your steps back into the abandoned mine.

3Italian Bascinet

Stylish Helm for the Discerning Warrior

When you first start out, rusty kettle helmets might have their charm, but when it comes to real protection, bascinets are in another league. One such standout piece of headgear is the Italian Bascinet, which comes with a stylish Klappvisor and solid durability to boot.

Henry’s head is the last place you want to be exposed in a scrap, and this helmet does a great job of keeping it safe. The visor adds extra defense, though you’ll have to trade off some vision when lowered.

It won’t burn a hole in your purse either, as just over 2,000 coins in Kuttenberg gets you one. And since it’s the game’s second most durable head armor, repairs won’t be your daily routine.

The best part is that you don’t even need to pay for one. You’ll find the NPC Gules, who becomes a guard at the Semine village in Trosky afterthe Jaunt quest, wearing the headgear. When night falls, and Gules goes to sleep, it’s only a matter of sneaking up to his chest and stealing it from there.

2Milanese Cuirass

Impenetrable Yet Graceful

The Milanese Cuirass is about as close to perfection as you’ll get when it comes to body armor. It hassky-high defense and surprisingly low weight without compromising durability. It even throws in a decent Charisma bonus for good measure.

Of course, that Charisma stat is mostly for show since you’ll probably cover it with a fancy coat anyway. Still, what’s underneath matters, and this one’s nearly impenetrable.

You’ll need deep pockets to buy it legit, though. The best-quality version goes for around 6,000 Groschen at the Kuttenberg armorsmith.

If that sounds painful, don’t worry. There’s another way around that involves siding with the miners and taking down Markold of Louny during thePost Scriptum questand looting it off his corpse. Since Markold is a scumbag, you’ll likely go down that route anyway.

1Noble’s Bascinet

When it comes to helmets, the Noble’s Bascinet sits comfortably at the top. It beats every other helmet in visibility, defense, weight, and style — basically, every category that matters.

It’s sleek and light and somehow manages to look regal without looking bulky. A rare combo, especially in somethingbuilt to take a mace to the face.

The price tag, though, isn’t shy. It’ll cost you just under 4,000 Groschen if you’re buying it straight from the source.

Still, if luck’s on your side, you might just stumble across one tucked away in a bandit camp chest somewhere in Kuttenberg. Rare, but not impossible.
