However, comedian Katt Williams has a conspiracy theory as to why theJumanji: Welcome to the Jungleactor decided to wear the dress. Hart’s decision was also met with controversy after allegations of Hollywood’s emasculation of black men in popular culture.

Kevin Hartonce revealed that he did not take on the role of Alpa Chino in Ben Stiller’s comedy filmTropic Thunder. Featuring a star cast of Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, and Matthew McConaughey, the film could’ve given Hart a major chance to act alongside these stars at the time. However, he did not feel comfortable in playing the character and the role eventually went to Brandon T. Jackson.

Hart told New York’sPower 105.1radio station that the draft script included some“flagrant”scenes for the character, which he felt he couldn’t do. He shared,“The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real flagrant. … I was like, ‘I can’t do this’”(via THR).

When asked if he would ever play a gay character, Harty shared that he couldn’t, explaining that it wasn’t out of any ill will or disrespect. He shared that he had“insecurities”that would stop him from giving 100% to the character. Hart has also mentioned in interviews that he wouldn’t wear a dress for a role (via BlackTree TV/YouTube).

However, he changed his mind when hostingSNLfor the first time in 2013. For a sketch about a special election to replace the Pope, Hart played an impression of child actress Quvenzhané Wallis, who became the youngest Oscar nominee in the Best Actress category. Hart wore a dress and even went on to flex his muscles in the comedy skit, that many failed to see the humor in.

The impression received immense backlash, as Black communities bashed the actor for playing into Hollywood’s trope of emasculating Black actors. Fans also recalled the situation where Dave Chappelle had to leave a $50 million role because he was pressured to wear a dress (via LA Progressive).

Katt Williams has a conspiracy theory about Kevin Hart agreeing to wear a dress

Appearing on theClub Shay Shaypodcast, comedianKatt Williamsshared with the host that he was invited to“an Illuminati thing”in Hollywood alongside Ludacris. Williams shared that“they”offered$200 million to Ludacris, $10 million each for 20 movies in the future. Williams alleged that Ludacris is already halfway through his deal, thanks to hisFast & Furiousmovies.

Further, he alleged that the ‘Illuminati’ were behind Hart’s decision to wear a dress. Williams claimed that while Hart openly announced that he made the decision, it didn’t happen until“they”asked Hart to do it. Williams shared on the podcast:

Kevin told you he wasn’t gonna wear no dress, until they offered him the dress, and then he put it on. And what did he say after he wore it? I made my own decision, duh! But you didn’t make it up before they brought it up, did you?

Interestingly, Hart had responded to the controversies surrounding hisSNLskit at the time and shared that it was his decision. He wrote in a tweet:

I WORE A DRESS ON SNL because I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY!!! I made that decision…NOBODY MADE IT FOR ME…I AM MY OWN BOSS!!!
