Helldivers 2may have only been released yesterday (8 February), but the hype surrounding the game is palatable. The game has replacedPalworldas the most popular title on Steam, which is no small feat given the popularity of the latter title. However, it may be that the popularity of the sequel from Arrowhead has come at a cost.
Since its launch, the newly released third-person RPG has become the top-selling game on Steam. Despite this, it is sitting as mixed in terms of reviews, with nearly 11,000 at the last count. The main complaint from players is the issue they encounter with matchmaking, with others reporting that they have been experiencing frequent crashes of the game.
Is it Just Launch Day Issues for Helldivers 2?
With any new release, there are bound to be some sort of issue, and thankfully, this has been addressed by thedevelopers. A further update to this post on social media site X advised that there had been a patch uploaded to Steam, and this also included some crash fixes that they had identified.
Arrowhead Game Developer Mikael Eriksson did assure players that they are well aware that there are more issues to be looked into, and they are working their way through them. He hoped that the patch introduced would go a long way toward improving players’ experiences and urged fans to go out and smash some bugs and bots.

Despite the noted issues, there have been many positive comments from fans, with many praising the game and how much they prefer the third person perspective compared to the top-down of the originalHelldivers.
Palworld Too Experienced Issues with the Volume of Players.
Much likeHelldivers 2,the popularity ofPalworldsaw players experiencing issues, and perhaps the sheer number of people who flocked to the title was what caused problems. Developers Pocket Pair may have expected a wave of interest given the comparisons between their title and thePokémonfranchise, but again, perhaps they underestimated how popular their game would be.

Despite the current issues, there is so much to look forward to with the release ofHelldivers 2, not least of all the reports of theGamemastersbeing able to influence the co-op fights in real time. Fans have been waiting nearly a decade to experience a sequel to a much-loved RPG and despite various delays, the game is finally here.
It just goes to show the popularity ofHelldivers 2in that it has struggled with player numbers. The developers will be hoping that the matchmaking issues which have been highlighted by players can be addressed swiftly and that it won’t affect the reputation of the game going forward.
They’ve wrestled the crown fromPalworldin terms of sales on Steam and they’ll want to keep it for as long as they can.
