With the death of Gojo Satoru under his name, Ryomen Sukuna is without a doubt one of the strongest, if not the strongest, characters inJujutsu Kaisen. He held back not only against Gojo but also Kashimo, Higuruma, Kusakabe, Takuma Ino, Choso, Maki Zenin, Yuta, Yuji, Miguel, Larue, and Aoi Todo.
And out of them, Sukuna had to face a bunch of them at the same time, like Yuji and Todo. Sukuna was so OP that Gege Akutami had to bring Nobara out from the dead in order for Yuji to finally finish him off. However, as impressive Sukuna already is, there’s someone else who is shown more menacing and terrifying. And that is the Sorcerer Killer, Toji Fushiguro.
Toji surpasses Sukuna in one aspect that fans couldn’t predict
Sure, Gojo ultimately died at Sukuna’s hands, invariably creating one of manga’s most memorable memes in history and attracting copium theories on the level of Einstein. But many fans kind of expected Gojo to die once his fight with Sukuna commenced. It wasn’t out of this world.
On the other hand, Toji bypassing Jujutsu High’s barrier and stabbing Gojo in the chest was something nobody expected in their wildest dreams. Before that scene, fans had pictured Gojo as virtually unbeatable. Every character in the Hidden Inventory arc, including Suguru Geto, believed that Gojo is the strongest there is.

He was the first person in approximately four hundred years to inherit both the Limitless inherited technique and the Six Eyes. After he was born, the balance of power shifted, and Gojo had a bounty worth over a hundred million put on his head and was targeted by bounty hunters, however, they were ultimately powerless before him.
At one point, Toji Zenin went to see Gojo when the latter was a child. While tailing the child, Gojo noticed Toji’s presence and turned around to look at him, surprising Toji. This marked the first and last time anyone was aware of Toji’s presence while he was standing behind them, as Toji possessed zero cursed energy due to his Heavenly Restriction. Since then, the Sorcerer Killer had his eyes set on Gojo, marking his victim.

And when the contract arrived to kill him, Toji wasted no time and shocked readers to the very core. At least Sukuna had plenty of Cursed Energy and techniques under his disposal. But Toji? He only relied on his raw strength and cursed tools. With that, he managed to kill Gojo in the most brutal fashion. Well… almost.

This was the only time fans saw how Gojo was completely immobilized because Sukuna slicing Gojo in half was completely off-screened in the manga. Therefore, fans hope that the anime will fix that and add more scenes to show that Sukuna wasn’t suffering too much while fighting Gojo.
Additionally, fans have never seen Gojo getting absolutely annihilated by someone before. Even Sukuna was heavily wounded before he killed him. But Toji didn’t even break a sweat. It was only during the battle against Toji that Gojo awakened his Buddha state, something Sukuna couldn’t do. What’s more, Gojo didn’t kill Toji completely.
He was so OP that he later came back by taking over someone’s body and couldn’t be stopped if he didn’t kill himself with his own weapon. On the other hand, Sukuna died embarrassingly at the hands of Yuji and he had to take pity on the King of Curses.

Unbeknownst to Toji, Gojo learned how to perform the reverse cursed technique on the verge of death, allowing him to heal himself. After recovering, Gojo arrives at the Star Religious Group’s headquarters to retrieve Riko’s body. It is then that Gojo utters his famous line.

This is a line Buddha said during his time on Earth. This is basically Gege revealing to fans that Gojo has become a Buddha and his anti-thesis is Toji, as proved in the following images:
AsJujutsu Kaisenis coming to a close (unless JJK Shippuden happens), Sukuna is deemed as the strongest character, but fans still remember Toji and refer to him as the most dangerous character in the series. Sukuna was almost there, but him dying pathetically like Muzan, had brought him down.
