Jason Momoa might have had a lukewarm run as the king of Atlantis Arthur Curry/Aquaman, but he is back to essay a DC character that seems to fit him a little bit more snuggly. Momoa will be entering the DCU, essaying the role of the Main Man himself: Lobo.
As reported by ComicBook.com, theSeealum will be a part ofSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’scast, which is going to star Milly Alcock as the titular Kryptonian cousin of Superman. By being cast as Lobo, Jason Momoa has set a precedent for the DCEU and DCU.
Jason Momoa is the first actor from the DCEU to be cast in a different role for the DCU
While there are actors from the DCEU that have made their way into the DCU, like Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller, and John Cena’s Peacemaker, there is no actor from the DCEU who has been recast in a new role in the DCU. There were a lot of people who were sure that this would be the case for the entire main cast of the DC Extended Universe, but Gunn himself squashed those rumors.

By allowing Jason Momoa to enter the DCU as Lobo, James Gunn might have blown the casting choices for the DCU wide open. Fans are now openly speculating which of the original DCEU cast could find another role in James Gunn’s DCU. However, Momoa seems uniquely suited to playing Lobo, given the actor’s comments.
Jason Momoa has wanted to play Lobo for a while
In a2023 interview, Jason Momoa revealed how obsessed he had been with Lobo when he was younger. He said:
I used to collect comics and I don’t do so much anymore, but [Lobo] was always my favorite. And I’ve always wanted to play Lobo,
Lobo is one of the few characters that are considered to be the strongest characters in the DCU, being an unholy mix of Wolverine, Superman, and Deadpool. However, given that Momoa has the correct look for the character and isridiculously well cast in the role, the actor could see himself getting a solo project in a laPeacemakerasap.
Given that there are already shows like Lanterns, which might look into more cosmic threats, Lobo has the opportunity to make a slew of appearances in the DCU. An animated series that follows the Main Man across the the DCU could be a fun worldbuilding project in the DC Universe, which could be used to tell a great story, and set up the wider universe.
