James Gunn is not the one to walk away from creating a bizarro world in his films. The DC chief has one chance to bring one of the grossest scenes in the comic books to the screen in the DCU. Last year, DC Comics introduced a designer metahuman, Metawoman, who could rapidly alter her genetic code to confront any threat. She went up against the Doom Patrol inUnstoppable Doom Patrol #5, released in 2005.

James Gunn Should Take Note Of This Lesser Known Hero With The Grossest Comic Book Scene

Fans saw some of the weirdest superheroes in both the MCU and the DCU underJames Gunn. Gunn could make any fans easily like a raccoon and a tree or a man vomiting polka dots. Gunn could explore one weird territory in the DC universe —Doom Patrol. DC Comics’Unstoppable Doom Patrolintroduced one such weird hero that Gunn could introduce into DCU.

In the5th issueof the 2023 series, the story introduces a superhero with literally unlimited powers. Metawoman is introduced as a designer metahuman, created by the CEO of Metagen Corporation, Brian McClane. The mad scientist is a fan ofDoom Patrol’s Niles Caulder, who has left his ugly past of experimenting with metagenes behind.

Dennis Culver, Chris Burnham, Brian Reber, and Pat Brosseau created a superhuman who could rapidly change her genetic codes to adapt to any threat, much like X-Men’s Armando Muñoz. However, when McClane unleashes her onto the Doom Patrol, things go awfully wrong for the character.

The Doom Patrol, with their fifth-dimensional weird abilities, prove too much for Metawoman to handle. Her body malfunctions, turning into a blob-like monster vomiting green pus. It is perhaps the grossest scene in the entire DC Comics. If fans of Gunn were to read this scene in the comics, they would likely remember the villain Starro fromThe Suicide Squad.

How Could James Gunn Bring Metawoman Into The DCU?

InUnstoppable Doom Patrol #5, Metawoman’s gross transformation in the end allows the Doom Patrol to escape. However, Brian McClane and Metagen Inc. are revealed to be serving the U.S. Military, taking orders from none other than Amanda Waller. Metawoman is alive as a monster at the end of the issue.

In the next two issues of the DC Comics series, Waller plans to take down the Doom Patrol and sends her deputy, Peacemaker, to pursue the team. While Metawoman doesn’t appear in these final issues, it is possible that she could end up as an ally to the Doom Patrol in opposing the Metagen Corporation. The team is known to take in people with bizarre powers and ugly pasts.
