Game of Throneshad a wide spectrum of complex and interesting characters that contributed to the complicated power struggle in Westeros. The expansive family tree of different houses involved made it an interesting ensemble piece that hooked audiences. One of the most interesting characters from the Stark family was Jon Snow played by Kit Harington.

Jon Snow was always perceived as Ned Stark’s b*stard child and he always believed he was a member of the Stark family. However, season 8 would change everything about his true parentage. Unfortunately, the huge revelation did not have any impact on the events that followed and became one of the biggest criticisms of the final season.
Fans Are Still Mad At HowGame of ThronesHandled Jon Snow’s Parentage Arc
Kit Harington‘s Jon Snow was slowly set up from season 1 ofGame of Thronesas one of the most compelling and leading characters of the show. He was portrayed as Ned Stark’s b*stard son who eventually falls in love with Daenerys Targaryen. However, everything about what the character believed his life was, would change dramatically in season 8.

In the premiere episode of the final season, Sam Tarly reveals that Jon Snow is indeed Aegon Targaryen and his trueparentsare Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, making him the true heir to the Iron Throne. However, this huge revelation did not lead to anything and had no impact on the character’s arc.
For much of season 8,Jon Snowwas an inactive character, mostly observing the atrocities happening, and having an aimless presence in the show. Despite his dramatic killing of Daenerys, he refused the Iron Throne, and went North, leaving the throne to Bran. It has been 8 years since the revelation, and people are still pissed at how they made it inconsequential. Here are some of the reactions onX,

It’s kinda sad that they ruined his whole character arc just to give Arya Stark a win. He was the prince that was promised, and he should’ve been the one to kill the Night King.pic.twitter.com/AXXFdf6V0b

As some fans have pointed out, this frustrating handling of Jon’s arc made his resurrection in season 6 pointless. The final season indeed did the character dirty and made once a promising and compelling character into a boring and aimless one in its concluding season.
