Rumored to be in development for quite a while now, there has also been speculation that Sheridan is reportedly writing the script. And in a recent interview withThe Playlist, Villeneuve stated that he isn’t involved in the project nor does he know that the threequel of his Oscar-nominated flick is in the work.
“I have not heard about [a new script or project]. Nobody has talked to me about that… I’m just hearing about it now.”
Although he isn’t involved or has not gotten the call yet, the director remarked the movie would be great if theYellowstoneco-creator is involved.

While talking to The Playlist recently, Denis Villeneuve not only revealed that he has no knowledge ofSicario 3being in development but also remarked onTaylor Sheridanbeing involved in the movie. Calling him as one of his favorite screenwriters, theDunedirector stated,
“If Taylor is writing a screenplay, I would be absolutely excited to see that on screen… I don’t know if thing this will happen, but if Taylor Sheridan is writing it, it’s going to be fantastic.”
Back in October 2023, it was reported byColliderthat the producers of the movie were aiming to get back the original cast and that Sheridan as well asChristopher McQuarriewereinvolved in the project as partners.
Although no other details have been revealed till now, many would agree with Villeneuve that if the script is in the hands of the likes of Taylor Sheridan, it will be a definite success.
