Oscar Isaac’sMoon Knightcame out in 2022 and received positive response among critics and audiences. While there were some flaws in the depiction of the superhero, fans expected to see more of the character in the MCU. Two years have since passed without any significant update about a second season of the show. The reason is most likely the creative overhaul in Marvel’s television side of things.

Winderbaum shared that Marvel TV shows will follow the format of traditional TV and run for multiple seasons. They will create characters that last in pop culture for years. Winderbaum also shared they would produce multiple shows simultaneously.

They would follow the old format of going through multiple pilots and show bibles before deciding on the shows they would produce. Winderbaum shared withEW:

Now, we are thinking about television really more like traditional television where they could last for multiple seasons, where we can see the characters brew in the culture for hopefully many years. One thing we are doing is we’re developing a lot of shows now simultaneously.

So, in a way, we’re making television more in a traditional style where we are going to write multiple pilots and show bibles before we decide what we want to produce and actually bring to the screen, which gives us an opportunity to experiment and also to plan all sorts of different Marvel sandboxes.

While the plan seems great, it might be too late forOscar Isaac‘sMoon Knight. Fans have been waiting for a second season of the show after the six-episode Season 1 made them interested in Isaac’s character(s). However, the two-year waiting period may havekilled the hype around the character, making it difficult to follow the traditional TV pattern.

Moreover, the limited episode format ofMoon Knightis also something not typical of traditional television. The budget per episode of the first season was $24.7 million and thetotal budget was $147.9 million. Marvel will have to significantly cut down on the budget of the series to make it in line with traditional shows.
