Phoebe Dynevor became the talk of the town in Hollywood thanks to her stint as the seemingly innocent protagonist with a simmering s*xuality in the British period drama,Bridgerton. The show established Dynevor as one of the rising stars in the industry with the potent combination of stunning good looks and solid acting talent. Along with continuing her successful collaboration with the series, the celebrity also featured in a very different avatar in 2023’sFair Play.

The talented actor lived up to her reputation by impressing her fans and critics with a strong performance in 2023’sFair Playdirected by Chloe Domont. The film which deals with a couple trapped in a war of power in a ruthless corporate world, was also a bold take on the travails of toxic masculinity.
While Dynevor received very positive reviews for her role in the film, she revealed that a lot of the themes that the director touched upon, did not appeal to male audiences. In an interview withVariety, theBridgertonactor spoke about how many men who saw the film, felt that they were stereotyped to be the misogynistic wrong-doers in most cases.

“Seeing the way men reacted to the film versus women was very interesting. It made me laugh that men felt very strongly about how they were being depicted badly.”
Despite these criticisms for the film which were similar to what Greta Gerwig faced with her blockbusterBarbie, Dynevor believed thatFair Playwas a courageous project that did not shy away from shedding light on harsh societal truths.
